The Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century goes on tour for the 133rd time. Just two years since their friend, director and founding father Frans Brüggen's passing, the Orchestra has chosen to collaborate again with conductor Daniel Reuss and his highly-praised choir, Cappella Amsterdam.
"From the heart - may it return to the heart!" Ludwig van Beethoven
The Choir, Orchestra and four soloists will give nine performances of Beethoven's impressive Missa Solemnis Opus 123 in The Netherlands.
"It could be argued that all art - and music in particular - represents an engagement with the transcendental. I have the impression that Beethoven was constantly flirting with the incomprehensible, opening up unexpected approaches and making the invisible visible or, rather, audible. We are guided through so many transformations that by the end of the proces we ourselves could be said to have been transformed." Nikolaus Harnoncourt
Under the supervision of maestro Kenneth Montgomery, the Orchestra will give three young conductors the opportunity to work on three Beethoven Symphonies. The masterclass will take place on Monday, October 10th, starting at 11.00 AM in de Doelen in Rotterdam.
