Hi <<First Name>> <<Last Name>>,

We've got another great Kaiju Kennels newsletter for you! When we sent out the first issue last month, we weren't entirely sure how frequently the newsletter would be published. So much has happened since then that we felt another update was in order. In the future, the newsletter will be sent on the 15th of the month. It may be monthly or bi-monthly, depending on how much we have to share with you.

As promised, we have our first Rescue Spotlight in this issue. If you are in California and want a brindle, please check out Cassius' story and contact his foster home. We will try to feature rescues from other parts of the country as well.

The biggest announcement we have for you is that Batora will be available to a new home this autumn. If you're interested in a white Japanese Akita, you should read up on him. He is really a fantastic dog and we've been lucky to have him. If you want to skip past the destructive puppy stage and get a sweet, loving boy that's already trained and chill, Batora may be the dog for you!

Also, we're still on the road home from attending UKC Premier and wont be back until June 28th. It may be difficult to reach us by phone in the meantime, so please send email if it's important. Next month we'll be open to visitation appointments again - or you can come see us and our dogs at the next show.

Remember, we post photos, interesting articles, and fun tidbits on our Facebook page many times a week, so please follow us!

Best Regards,
Claire Matthews

Rescue Spotlight: Cassius

Cassius is a beautiful brindle Japanese Akita mix. He is under two years old, neutered, and current on all his shots. Cassius is currently attending obedience training and he is a star. Cassius has a calm demeanor but is full of love.

Cassius appears to be good with other dogs so may make a good addition. He does well in public and with strangers. Cassius is available for adoption through A Passion for Paws and is being fostered in Palmdale, California. You can contact his foster home by texting +1 (818) 219-7736 or by emailing apassionforpaws@gmail.com.

Available Adult: Batora

Batora will be available to an approved home this autumn. Batora is an amazing Japanese Akita and excellent example of the breed. He will be 3 years old in August and currently weighs around 75 lbs at a height of 26½ in.

Batora is a confident, outgoing, and friendly dog. He is a great breed ambassador, with an affable and accepting nature. He is good with children, strangers, cats, and other small pets. He is also very playful with female dogs and will let a girl be the boss of him. Although he behaves himself around male dogs at dog shows, we do not recommend he go to a home with an intact male. Neutered males will be considered on a trial basis. Batora is very social and would prefer at least one canine companion who will enjoy his antics.

Batora will be sold with a Limited Priviledge contract which does not confer any breeding rights. He will be neutered at our expense prior to going to his new home. His price is negotiable, but will take into consideration his show career, exceptional quality, health clearances, and training. We will offer rebates for classes taken and titles earned after he joins your family.

Breeding Plans

Stay up to date with our current breeding plans in every issue of our newsletter. We will not be using Batora in our breeding program and are currently considering which stud dog will best compliment Angi. At this time, we're only considering red males. We are still only considering dark brindle males to sire Godzuki's litter.

Litter B's 2nd Birthday

Happy Birthday Miyako, Noogie, Bruno, Gamera, and Ugetsu! Litter B turned two on May 28th. Their mother is Bijo and father is King Ghidora. It's been a great two years and we look forward to many more to come.

UKC Top Ten Finals & Premier Results

Wow! Premier was really amazing! Please do check out our website for the full write-up, we were so busy all four days and cannot justly summarize it here. We had a great weekend and our dogs did really well - especially Mosura, who won Top Ten Best of Breed and tried out a new sport, Lure Coursing. She loved it, by the way. :)

As always we would like to thank the judges for taking time to learn more about our breed standard and evaluate our dogs. Premier was a great opportunity to show the Japanese Akita to judges and other dog fanciers from all over the US and Canada. Typically, exposure in UKC is limited to Southern California where most of the breeders live.

There was a lot of buzz and excitement in the air everywhere we took our dogs and we took every opportunity to educate others about the breed. Of course, all of the Japanese Akitas in attendance did their part to make a good impression, too. We hope to see more Japanese Akitas at shows accross the country to continue raising awareness about the breed.

Visit our website to see more photos from the show.
