As we reach the end of Week 9, Demo Day is officially one week away! On Tuesday, teams heard from Blake Johnson and Scott Cohen, co-founders of Byte, as part of our weekly Fireside Chat. Blake and Scott shared the lessons they've learned on a variety of topics, including finding the right business partner, building teams, staying focused, and the importance of staying metric and data-driven. On Wednesday, teams had office hours with Summer Accelerator Director Robert Jadon to get their final questions answered ahead of Week 10. That concludes Week 9 – don't forget to register for Demo Day!

Meet the TradeUp team! The team includes brothers Paolo Shamoon, a UCLA undergrad, and Dylan Shamoon, a UCLA alum, as well as Kalvin Kazemi, a student at Santa Monica College. The team has been working together for 8 months and is now part of the 2021 Summer Accelerator.
TradeUp hopes to solve the constant scamming that plagues the current trading market. The first time Paolo tried trading, he received a box of rocks in exchange for his Yeezys, instead of the item he was promised. Both Paolo and Kalvin are sellers in online marketplaces, and they knew there had to be a better way to facilitate these trades and prevent scamming. That’s when TradeUp was born.
TradeUp aims to become the marketplace for trades by facilitating item trades already happening in Facebook groups and subreddits by adding an additional layer of security to the trade and preventing scamming. TradeUp’s end goal is to eventually introduce a marketplace where people can trade goods – like an Ebay just for trades. Learn more about TradeUp here.

Meet the Kindu TV team! The team is made up of Justin Moreno and Zach Merritt – a UCLA alum. Justin and Zach have been friends since childhood, and they have the yearbook photos to prove it! The two are currently building Kindu TV as part of the 2021 Summer Accelerator program.
Kindu TV is on a mission to replace YouTube in the classroom, which is currently the most visited education website by teachers. YouTube poses several problems for teachers, including inappropriate ads, unsafe content, and unprofessional recommended videos in the sidebar, among other issues. In short, finding outcome-driven and trustworthy education videos on YouTube is unnecessarily difficult for teachers, creating the need for Kindu TV.
Kindu TV is a home for elementary school teachers to find, share, and organize high-quality educational videos, all with no ads. Kindu TV boasts a growing library of 15,000+ crowdsourced and classroom-ready videos and collections. The majority of the videos are short music/dance/explainer videos on topics like phonics, counting, or addition. The team envisions Kindu TV as a replacement for YouTube in every elementary school classroom. In the future, they plan to continue to grow their library of content while also beginning to license content exclusively for Kindu TV.
