Week one was full of fun! Teams participated in a virtual escape room, followed by a Skill Series workshop on the business model canvas from Assistant Director Glentrez Olugeo, and heard from Summer Accelerator Director Robert Jadon on lessons he's learned throughout his career as an entrepreneur.

The Chances app is seeking interns!
Chances is looking for 1-3 driven Bruins to join our startup team. Intern work will include executing marketing campaigns and social media outreach in the UCLA community. You will have the opportunity to work with an experienced serial entrepreneur and collaborate with a small start-up group of 3! Chances is currently a team in the Summer Accelerator 2021 cohort. UCLA Ventures is seeking a Program Assistant! 
UCLA is striving to be a leader in entrepreneurship, and UCLA Ventures is seeking a program assistant to help with this mission. The program assistant will provide administrative support to UCLA Ventures and its programs. They will work with staff on various projects which include, but are not limited to, managing its donor database, its portfolio of UCLA startups, and its social media presence as well as assisting in event planning. GSV Startup Bootcamp III
What: 7-week sprint to build confidence, capabilities, connections, and courage
About: This 7-week bootcamp (July 12-August 27) for aspiring entrepreneurs will allow you to hear from world-class speakers, learn about real-world case studies, and conceptualize your startup. Participants will also have the opportunity to pitch their startup at the end of the bootcamp.

WeTHRIVE Summer 2021 Cohort 
What: 8-week program for women business leaders
About: WeTHRIVE was designed to help WBEs survive the uncertainty of today and grow and thrive for the future. As part of this program, WBEs will attend virtual learning sessions with their track across five disciplines (Leadership & Communication, Financial Management, Business Strategy, Operations & Human Resources, and Marketing & Sales). WBEs should plan to commit about 3 to 4 hours per week to participate in weekly two-hour courses from leading instructors and 3 to 4 peer group sessions to network, collaborate, and connect with WBE peers.

VentureWell E-Team Grant Program
 Supports dedicated science- and engineering-based student teams from across the nation in bringing their high-impact innovation out of the lab and into the market
About: The program is seeking early-stage student teams who are on the path to launching science and tech innovations with a positive social, health, or environmental impact. Selected teams can unlock up to $25,000 in grant funding, along with sponsored entry into their Early-Stage Innovator Training Program.

SEED Lab Pre-Accelerator
8-month pre-accelerator for early-stage social entrepreneurs
About: SEED Lab is an 8-month pre-accelerator for early-stage social entrepreneurs. Developed in partnership with the University of California Riverside Extension, it aims to tap the deep reservoir of unrecognized talent within marginalized and under-served communities and support their efforts to identify and develop pioneering paths out of inherited problems that have buried and muffled those voices. The program is designed to support the implementation of visionary ideas into similarly powerful tools to generate social impact, deepen civic engagement, and bring about empowerment and sustainable change.

WBENC Women & Pride Peer Groups and Community Building Event 
Event to address and help overcome the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ women business owners
About: Studies show that LGBTQ+ women are underrepresented at every stage of the management pipeline. For LGBTQ+ women, who are workplace minorities in both gender and sexual orientation, the feeling of isolation is common—and particularly challenging—in work environments. The Women & Pride Peer Group was designed to build a community of LGBTQ+ women business owners to voice shared experiences, strategize with one another to overcome problems, and to strengthen the WBENC entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Event date: This event will take place August 12th from 3pm to 4:30pm ET. Register here

SCALE Fall 2021 Cohort
What: 13-week program for early-stage aerospace startups
About: SCALE is designed to inspire a generation of students, entrepreneurs, and investors to pursue entrepreneurship for the development and advancement of novel technologies with aerospace applications and to build businesses here in Los Angeles. Each team selected for the program will receive personalized instruction and engage with potential corporate clients and investors. The program is designed to help teams set milestones, develop products, find the market fit and get customer traction, and secure the next round of funding.

ASPIRE Program
What: Intensive 7-week program that prepares startups for the investments and partnerships necessary to launch their venture
About: They are seeking seed-stage medtech companies to help pinpoint fundraising needs and develop the deal room materials needed to back up their ask. During this 7-week virtualized program, teams will spend one-on-one time with mentors-in-residence, including VentureWell staff and active investors, as they prepare for investment conversations.

After more than a year of lockdowns and restrictions, small businesses are just starting to operate normally again.
