July 2018

Warm weather has finally arrived and Summer is in full effect! Now that we're in the hottest months of the year, it's important to be extra conscious of our water usage. This month's newsletter discusses a case study in El Mirage, the California Higher Education Sustainability Conference, and an informational piece about virtual water.
July is Smart Irrigation Month, July 10th specifically is when the Irrigation Association celebrates progressive irrigation technology. This tradition is an opportunity for companies to promote the social, economic, and environmental benefits of efficient irrigation.
Smart Irrigation in El Mirage
The Calsense demo program in this town resulted in much more than time, money, and water savings. High non-controller use of water on analytic reports revealed that water was being stolen from the public park system.

Virtual Water and Its Colors
There are many different aspects that go into calculating a water footprint. Understanding the difference between blue, green, grey, and black water creates greater awareness of the environmental impact caused by consumption.
California Higher Education Sustainability Conference
College campuses are a national leader in the sustainability movement. The CHESC is an opportunity for colleges and universities to come together and discuss research, operational programs, and transformative actions.
