This Sunday is a very blessed day for most of our group that have been preparing to become Catholic. Over the last 18 months we have journeyed through Alpha and catechesis, and they have waited patiently through lockdown until this moment when they are welcomed into the Catholic Church.
Please join us online on Sunday morning for this wonderful occasion in the life of the church and our parish. Unfortunately, because of those being baptised and received, we are unable to allow anyone else into the church for Mass on Sunday morning. Please join us at another Mass.
Pray for our converts, this is an important moment for them. As they are welcomed into full Communion with Catholic Church, let their faith remind us of the joy of our own faith. God calls you and me into a deeper love with him. Even though it may have been our parents who brought us to the Sacraments, or we converted years ago, the Lord still urges us to grow in holiness.
I am very pleased to say that we have more people who are desiring to become Catholic in the coming year. May be you are reading this, or will be watching on Sunday and think you too are being called to something more. In the Autumn we will be hosting Alpha once again and starting catechesis for those wanting to become Catholic. Please do get in touch if you would like more information.
Perhaps over the last few months a desire has stirred to know your faith, or engage with what believe in a deeper way. In Autumn we will be exploring how we can grow in our faith and as disciples of Jesus.
Just a reminder, this Sunday at 9.30 a.m. Mass only those who have are being received into the church will be able to attend. Please come to another Mass.
Wishing you a blessed week! Remember to pray for me!
Please note: music services may require an account and free versions may include advertisements and other songs which are not part of the list. As Fr Michael announced, "When God leaves the music, press stop!"
Sunday 16th August 2020 - THIS SUNDAY 9.30 a.m.
We will be welcoming into full communion with the Catholic Church those people who should have celebrated this at the Easter Vigil earlier in the year. This a great moment for the Church and our parish. Please keep them all in prayers in the coming week as they prepare for this moment.
This means that Mass at 9.30 a.m. on 16th August will be by invitation only.
This is to keep social distancing for those who are being received. Please join the celebration by livestream or come to another Mass in the week.
For some reason, the phone stopped working last week. I have at last been able to hear the messages. I am so sorry for not being able to respond to them.
Now that I am back at the presbytery, the mobile number will no longer be in use, you can contact me on the parish number 01782 658063. If you leave a message, please leave a phone number otherwise I cannot return the call.
First Confession and First Holy Communion
For families with children who should have celebrated First Confession and First Communion this year, please book you child(ren) a place at one of our Sunday Masses in the coming weeks. There is room for only 2 families at each Mass and this means you household only, others are able to watch online.
Booking is simple. Go to our website homepage. Look for the diary. Choose which weekend Mass you would like the First Communion to be. Sign up. You will be sent an automatic email with everything you need to know.
Many thanks to those who have already signed up!
Certificate of Catholic Practice - St Jospeh's College
For parents preparing applications for St Joseph's College you will need a certificate of Catholic Practice. Fill this in and bring it to church before 13th September together with a photograph. Fr Michael will then sign the forms ready for collection from 20th September.
Only submit a form if you are from the parish of St Teresa's and you are practicing Catholics. Fr Michael cannot sign it if you do and you child do not come to Mass but a family member does. You also need to have been practicing Catholics for a number of years to qualify. Fr Michael will not sign the certificate unless he know you and the family.
Share Your Experience!
It has been wonderful welcoming people back to church whether that is for prayer or for Holy Mass. It is a wonderful blessing! I would like to invite you to share your experience of coming back to church and back to Holy Mass and include some of them in our eNewsletter over the next few weeks. How did you feel about coming? What was it like? How did you feel afterwards? I know we will all benefit from sharing our experiences.
Most of these have been collected or posted through letter boxes. If you have not got yours yet, please get in touch.
A really big thank you to everyone who has donated to the parish over the last few months. Whether you have given towards the rose garden project, the camera or just donations to the parish, we are so grateful. It would be an even bigger help if we were able to claim Gift Aid on at lease some those donations. This means we can claim an extra 25% because you pay tax. For example, if you gave £200 we can claim a further £50 at no extra cost to you. If you have given something over the last few months and would like us to claim the Gift Aid on that donation, email us here and we can get the details we need.
As things begin to open up, if you have any donations of dried food, long life food (cans etc.) or other things that would be useful to the work of Manna House, please leave them in the Meeting Room by the CAFOD table. Find out more about their work here
The Vatican has released a new document called the Pastoral Conversion of the Parish Community. The language is a bit technical in places (affectionately called Vaticanese!) but it has some wonderful thoughts about parish communities in the modern world.
