Another week and another new feature for the newsletter! If you scroll down to below this first section, you can find a link to the Sunday readings.
We are still in the Year of the Word, so use the readings for Sunday Mass as part of your prayer. May be read them before Holy Mass on Sunday, or read them again during the week. If you have a quiet few moments, in the car before going to work, read them through slowly. The theme of the Year of the Word is 'The God Who Speaks'. He speaks to us through the scriptures, he speaks to you in the scriptures.
Please feel free to follow the readings when you are church using your phone or tablet. Just remember to turn your notifications off!
This weekend we are starting to use a new seating arrangement in church. The blue crosses and gaps are gone, we now have green and red spots! This will increase our capacity slightly but also make finding seats easier. Here is how it works:
Sit at a green spot (couples/ household sitting close together)
Leave a gap of at least twored spots (even if there is a green spot between two red spots
The next person/ couple/ household sits at the next available green spot
It will make sense when you see it!
Lastly, on 5th/ 6th and 12th/ 13th September we will be trialling a booking system for weekend Masses (Sat 4.30 p.m., Sun 9.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m.). We are reaching our capacity on Sundays and we would hate to turn people away, so I am inviting you to reserve a place for those Masses (weekdays will stay first come, first serve).
The way to book will be online using our parish calendar. There are tickets for individuals, couples, families with up to five people in, families with over five people. Click on the Sunday Mass you would like to reserve a seat at and follow the sign up process.
You can only book Monday to Saturday leading up to the weekend (you can't book two weeks in advance!) this to try and make it fair.
I know not everyone finds using technology easy. Can I ask families and friends to be generous in helping each other to use the reservation system.
If this is successful, we can continue to use it. Our Sunday Masses draws a larger and wider group of people, so it could help if we receive a track and trace alert.
Wishing you a blessed week! Remember to pray for me!
Please note: music services may require an account and free versions may include advertisements and other songs which are not part of the list. As Fr Michael announced, "When God leaves the music, press stop!"
Thank you for being understanding last Sunday morning. It was a real joy and a blessing to welcome 10 new Catholics into the Church. I hope you were able to join us online for the occasion. Please keep our new Catholics in your prayers. May the good work begun in them be brought to completion!
I am now back in the presbytery, the work is almost finished(!). The parish mobile is now no longer in use. Please use the main parish phone number. If you leave a message, don't forget to leave a contact number!
Sunday Mass Reservation System
You can visit the homepage of the website and use the calendar or use the links below. Please note, tickets do not become available until the Monday of the week leading to the Sunday Masses.
Holy Rosary and Monica Prayers
Many thanks to Cathie, from the Legion of Mary in our parish, who has been leading the Rosary on Friday evenings and to Christine who has been leading Monica Prayers on Wednesday afternoons. There will be a pause to these devotions until October when we will start again for the Month of the Rosary.
Please pray for Brenda Haskew who died recently. Her funeral will be celebrated on 25th August. Please note this will be by invitation only as places at funerals are limited to 30 people only.
First Confession and First Holy Communion
For families with children who should have celebrated First Confession and First Communion this year, please book you child(ren) a place at one of our Sunday Masses in the coming weeks. There is room for only 2 families at each Mass and this means you household only, others are able to watch online.
Booking is simple. Go to our website homepage. Look for the diary. Choose which weekend Mass you would like the First Communion to be. Sign up. You will be sent an automatic email with everything you need to know.
Many thanks to those who have already signed up!
We have a lot of red builders sand left over from the work at the presbytery. If you would like some, get in touch with Fr Michael and you can gladly have whatever we have.
Certificate of Catholic Practice - St Jospeh's College
For parents preparing applications for St Joseph's College you will need a certificate of Catholic Practice. Fill this in and bring it to church before 13th September together with a photograph. Fr Michael will then sign the forms ready for collection from 20th September.
Only submit a form if you are from the parish of St Teresa's and you are practicing Catholics. Fr Michael cannot sign it if you do and you child do not come to Mass but a family member does. You also need to have been practicing Catholics for a number of years to qualify. Fr Michael will not sign the certificate unless he know you and the family.
A really big thank you to everyone who has donated to the parish over the last few months. Whether you have given towards the rose garden project, the camera or just donations to the parish, we are so grateful. It would be an even bigger help if we were able to claim Gift Aid on at lease some those donations. This means we can claim an extra 25% because you pay tax. For example, if you gave £200 we can claim a further £50 at no extra cost to you. If you have given something over the last few months and would like us to claim the Gift Aid on that donation, email us here and we can get the details we need.
