From Fr Michael

It was wonderful to celebrate the Parish Feast this week. Hearing music and bells in the liturgy was truly beautiful.  As with everything at the moment, even though it was different from previous celebrations, it was nonetheless a wonderful celebration.  It was lovely to welcome Fr Sean back to celebrate the Mass for us.

Our Facebook Page is edited by a number of parishioners who use it for live-streaming times of prayer, for posting children's liturgy, and making sure things work - like the sound! This means that messages for sent through the Facebook Messenger App and comments on posts can be read by the wider team. It is good to have a team of people who use our social media platforms as a good safeguarding practice, however, it does mean that messages may be read by members of that team. If you need to speak to me directly, please phone or use the email address.

If you look through the newsletter you will see that the Rosary and Monica Prayers are returning.  The Monica Prayers will be prayed via livestream and the Rosary, during October, will be prayed and streamed from church.  Parishioners are welcome to pray the Rosary in church on Friday evenings.

There is a note for those who have been waiting so patiently for more information about becoming Catholic.  There is a meeting later this month with a view to starting in November.  I am also opening this group to all parishioners who want to grow and deepen their faith.

I hope that we might also be able more information about Alpha.  This will be for parishioners who have not had an experienced of Alpha but, more importantly, for you to invite others to come along to try Alpha.

Let us keep encouraging each other, supporting each other and being creative as we live through this ongoing pandemic.  Despite the situation, there is much to thank God for.  Let's keep our eyes fixed on him!

God bless and pray for me!

Fr Michael
Readings for 4th October

Becoming Catholic and Growing in Faith
I am hoping to start a group in November for those who have been thinking and praying about becoming Catholic.  I also want to extend the invitation to all parishioners who might want to use this as an opportunity to deepen their own knowledge of our Catholic faith. There will be a meeting on 26th October at 7.00 p.m. for those who are interested.  This will be online and we can discuss the practical details of how we will meet, the steps to becoming Catholic. Sign up here.

Shoebox Appeal
Please click and read the link for more information on how we will be supporting the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal.  As with most things, it will be different but we can still support this worthwhile project.

Broken Jewellery
If you have any broken jewellery or jewellery you no longer want or need, please consider donating it to the parish.  For example, single earring, cufflinks, rings with missing stones etc. We are able to sell them to help with our own fundraising.  Recently, we sold some broken odds and ends for over £100!  Just hand to Fr Michael in an envelope at Mass or push through the presbytery letterbox.

Red Mission Boxes
It is time to empty the red boxes which support the missionary work of the Church in other countries.  This something that needs to be done in a safe way.  If you can bring your red box to church, they will be left and count.  If you are not able to come to church, please call Christina to make arrangements for a safe collection on 01782 643076 (please leave a message if there is no response).
