From Fr Michael

This weekend we are re-introducing the Sunday 5.30 p.m.  Over the last could of weekends we have seen an increase in the number of people coming to Holy Mass.  This is great news!  While it is encouraging to see our parishioners and new people coming to our parish, we have to keep everyone safe.  Having an extra celebration of Holy Mass on Sunday will help us keep on keeping everyone as safe as possible.

Thank you again for your feedback over the last couple of weeks about our parish finances.  A big thank you to those who have used the cashless giving options on our website or in church.  We will be having new giving envelopes in April so other than the mention of cashless giving in the notices, after this weekend, I hope not to preach on our finances until about this time next year.

There is a link below to a leaflet that has a summary of our accounts together with a few testimonies from parishioners who have helped and benefitted from some of the things that we have done in 2020.  I hope it helps us to keep our giving connected to our mission.

Lent begins this week!

We have Holy Mass for Ash Wednesday at 9.30 a.m. and 7.00 p.m.  We are able to distribute ashes with the recommendations issued by the Vatican.  Do come and join us for the beginning of this privileged time in the year.

We have Stations of the Cross on Thursdays at 6.30 p.m.  I know this is a change from previous years, but we are linking it to things already in the diary so that we are not over-stretching our Hospitality Team who are doing an amazing job.  There will also be opportunities for Confession with a new 'Pop Up Confessional'.

Enjoy Shrove Tuesday!  Make and eat lots of pancakes!

Hope, pray, don't worry!

The Season of Lent
Lent begins on Wednesday.  It might feel as if we are living a perpetual Lent but this is a time of grace for us to joyfully be renewed in the gift of faith we have been given.  It is a time to do something good for the Lord.  When you think about your works of penance, think carefully not about the what but the why.  Why are you giving up this or that? Why are you avoiding this or that?  Why are you giving this or that?  Why are you going to do this or that?  If we have the why then doing the what becomes easier.

Walk With Me
A number of booklets and calendars are available at the back of church.

Pop Up Confessional!
As we come up on a year since we entered the first lockdown, it is a very good idea to make time to celebrate the Sacrament of Confession.  A new pop up confessional is on the way so we can celebrate the sacrament in a socially distanced way.  Times will be on the liturgy section of the eNewsletter next week.

Stations of the Cross
Thursdays at 6.00 p.m.

Bible in a Year Gathering on Zoom - Saturday 27th February, 10.30 a.m.
If you are following the Bible in a Year App or Podcast, it would be great to meet together and share experiences.  Don't worry if you're not up to date!  If this gathering works, we'll repeat them over the year.  It might help with the gift of perseverance! Sign up here for the Zoom Link.

Contactless and Online Giving
As we becoming increasingly cashless.  We have new ways to give.  If you're participating from home, please consider giving online.  If you in church, consider giving by our tap and go machine.

Hospitality Team
If you are able to come to Holy Mass and can help serve in our Hospitality Team, that would be fantastic.  This is the only way we are able to offer welcome and service at church at the moment and is great way to get involved.  Contact Lindsay for more information.
