From Fr Michael

Remember last week when I said my resolution for the New Year was to help people come back to Holy Mass in person?  It turns out covid found out and now we're in a national lockdown!  What is different and a blessing is that our church can stay open for Holy Mass.  All the things you need to know is in the picture above.

Each of the lockdowns we have experienced has affected each person in different ways.  I want you to know that if you don't feel able to come to Holy Mass in person at the moment, that is okay.

I have been thinking and praying about this lockdown and how we will keep going this week.  I was really encouraged by our Hospitality Team who have said they are happy to keep going as best as we are able to.  That's really helped me not to break my New Year's resolution - to help people come back to Holy Mass over the coming year.

I am going to keep encouraging you as best as I can to know the importance of the Eucharist in our lives, the real value of the Sacrament of Confession and a relationship with God that is built through prayer. Not to make you feel guilty or bad at not being able to come to church or feeling like you are not ready. Together we are going to keep encouraging each other so that when you are ready, when you do feel able, we will be ready to welcome you.  Quite literally (and we feel the cold to prove it!) the doors are open for you.  We also want be ready for visitors, people enquiring about becoming Catholic, people taking their first steps back to church. I want us all to be ready!

You may have noticed the first step in this plan already.  After Holy Mass the livestream video disappears. This is because I would like our times of prayer to moments when the whole parish is able to be together. Whether we are at church in person, or watching online, for that time, from wherever we are, we are united round the altar, called together by the Lord.  We participate together in time, we pray in the moment.  That changes our celebration of Holy Mass and is a powerful image of our faith.

Every blessing for the week ahead.

Hope, pray, don't worry!

Hospitality Team
If you are able to come to Holy Mass and can help serve in our Hospitality Team, that would be fantastic.  This is the only way we are able to offer welcome and service at church at the moment and is great way to get involved.  Contact Lindsay for more information.
