From Fr Michael

This weekend there is only one Sunday Mass.  There is lots of space, so if you do want to come to Mass, come to Mass!

Some people have been asking about Confession.  For 30 minutes after every Mass I will hear confessions on the sanctuary.  Please note, I won't be able to wave hello to everyone at the end of Mass! Come instead and say hello when you celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord's mercy in confession!

This week, on 17th December, we begin the second part of Advent, when we our focus turns towards preparing to celebrate the Lord's birth at Bethlehem.  As you can see in church, we are already making the initial preparations.  I hope you are making preparations too.  Use the opportunity to gather the family in assembling the Nativity Scene and perhaps retell the story of Jesus birth.  He is the reason for the season!

On 8th December, Pope Francis declared this year to be a Year of St Joseph.  He has written a short but lovely letter introducing the year and encourages us to grow in our devotion for St Joseph.  We will look forward to the coming months as we explore the spirituality of St Joseph.  Say a pray for St Joseph's Prep and St Joseph's College for whom this will be a particularly special year.

Thank you to everyone who has taken part with Beyond Adversity - the reflections have been amazing!  I am so overwhelmed by the response of our parishioners to this project.  I look forward to each day when I read the next one!

God bless, and pray for me!
Fr Michael
Readings for the Third Sunday of Advent

Advent at St Teresa's

It is not possible to arrange Penance Services this year, for obvious reasons, but I am happy to hear confessions for 30 minutes after each Mass until 22nd December.  At the end of Mass there will be a socially distanced place on the sanctuary.  Please wear a mask and after each person there will be a quick clean.
Please do use this opportunity to come and celebrate Confession in preparation for Christmas.

Rorate Mass - Saturday 7.00 a.m.

We will be contenting the tradition of early morning Mass by candlelight on Saturdays in Advent.  We come together before dawn to wait with Mary for Jesus, the Rising Sun, to shine upon us.  It is a beautiful Advent experience and worth the early start!  Here is a piece of music by James MacMillan called Radient Dawn, which is rather beautiful!

Beyond Adversity
There will be a reflections posted from 1st December until 24th December.  I have seen and listened to some of them and they are fantastic!  I hope you enjoy them too when they are posted!  Thanks to Nigel and Laura for leading this great project!

Christmas Tree and Stars
We are going to have just one tree this year... but a big tree!  We would like you to decorate it with gold and silver stars (as we have done in previous years).  It is going to be difficult to let everyone come round the tree and write on the stars and hang them. So, if you could make a donation (either by post or online) and click here to send us who you want to remember this year, we will write the names on the stars and hang them for you.

Walk With Me
Booklets are available for collection.  Please take one, and if you can spare a £1 place it in the collection box.  Take them for friends, relatives and neighbours unable to come to church at the moment.  They will be available at church for private prayer this weekend.
Christmas Masses

Please note all of this is subject to change.

Our priority will be to celebrate the Masses of Christmas with devotion and safety. We will be limiting the number of people who can attend so that we can maximise the available space.  So that we have accurate numbers we will be asking you to reserve a space by booking a ticket.  If you do not have a ticket, it will be unlikely that you will be able to attend.  The times of Holy Mass and the seating capacity are below.  We are very grateful to St Teresa's school who are letting us livestream into the School Hall where there will be an altar and tabernacle for Holy Communion.
