The Ethnic Communities’ Council of NSW has been hugely active throughout our state and Australia.

Since the last newsletter, we have represented at the Multicultural Festival in Liverpool West Public School, the Filipino Festival, Pre-Hanukah celebrations and the Multicultural NSW Marketing Awards. National Multicultural Women’s Conference 2016

On the 3rd and 4th of Novermber, we participated in the National Multicultural Women’s Conference 2016 – Influencing change: Vision and Impact.
This national event was organised by Settlement Services International (SSI) and the Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA), with support from Ethnic Communities’ Council of NSW.
It provided a holistic perspective towards shaping a shared vision and driving change.
The conference created a collaborative, inclusive and engaging platform to share knowledge, inform the national agenda, and recognise and celebrate the outstanding contribution women from diverse backgrounds make to our society.
Practitioners, decision makers, community members and thought leaders, participated in a lively and productive national dialogue.

Members' Forum

In November, our Members' Forum attended an information session on Work Development Order (WDO's) at the Department of Justice in Parramatta.
This innovative program enables vulnerable people who have received fines to work off the debt in a voluntary capacity.
Some of our Organisational and Corporate members will have the opportunity to be part of this important initiative.

NEMBC Conference

Our Youth Chair Glen Falkenstein took part in a panel discussion in the Youth Media Conference at the Nembc - National Ethnic and Multicultural Broadcasters' Council.
Panel Discussion + Q&A: Taking youth issues to people who can make change.
Our Multicultural Ageing and Disability Access Program Officer Terrie Leoleos, also offered a presentation on a plenary session surrounding identity.
The event brought together government representatives, community leaders, academics, multicultural organisations, radio station managers and broadcasters from across Australia. It was an opportunity for ethnic community broadcasters to network, discuss and debate key issues that relate to community broadcasting, the media and multicultural policies.
