What books hold a memory for you?
Immersing yourself in a good read has to be one of life's pleasures. Walking through beautiful landscapes is probably another high on your list. Combine the two this Saturday as we celebrate and revisit Cider with Rosie
Published 60 years ago, Cider with Rosie sold millions of copies. It was a staple in the school curriculum for English and evokes landscape and place that is still recognisable and stunning.
We are delighted to be collaborating with the artist Kel Portman, founder of Walking the Land artist collective. Kel, a landscape photographer, printmaker and artist has been walking, illustrating and photographing the Cotswolds landscape for more than 20 years. It's one of his images that adorns this post.
Walking & creativity is our passion. Seeking out the haunts so beautifully described by Laurie Lee we encourage you to share your enthusiasms through reading, discussions and illustration expertly guided by Kel & walking creative Andrew Stuck, founder of the Museum of Walking.
Starting at Stroud station we will walk on a pretty route through the Cotswolds to the village of Slad in the steps of Laurie Lee. This circular walk is timed to meet the trains and get you back before dark!

Penguin Books are publishing Down in the Valley - never before published transcribed interviews of Laurie Lee describing how this particular segment of the Cotswold landscape inspired him - we will have an advance copy of the book to share with you.
