Participants who are new to Canada will learn about the banking and credit system as well as how to avoid debt and scams. October 13th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.

Introduction to Emotional Intelligence and its impact on workplace success​
Nowadays there is a lot of focus on the importance of EI in navigating the workplace dynamics and succeeding on the job. Trisha will be delivering an introduction on EI and talking about the importance of identifying and managing your emotions to succeed in the workplace. Thursday, October 15th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm

WEEK 4: Presentations that impress: Using Power Point/Prezi 
PowerPoint is a persuasive tool for businesses to use, but it also has to be managed wisely. October 20th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm

Borrowing 101: Financing Basics​
Participants will learn about the various types of financing including secured, unsecured, joint, secondary and short term/high interest credit. They will also learn about leasing versus buying a vehicle, mortgages and students loans. October 22th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm
WEEK 5: Workplace diversity and inclusion (Conflict Management)​
Diversity in Canada extends beyond race and ethnicity but spans language, gender, religious affiliations, sexual orientation, abilities and economic status.  One area where diversity is often discussed is in the labour market.  Thursday, October 29th from 5:30 - 7:00 PM

WEEK 6: Job Search Strategies for Success​

  1. Foreign Credential Recognition - WES and ICAS are two well known organizations that offer credential assessments. For more information on obtaining foreign credential recognition, contact the Foreign Credentials Referral Office
  2. Lack of Canadian Work Experience - Consider working in a related job in your field so that you can continue to learn about your profession or industry. Be prepared to accept entry level positions in the field of choice, so that you can establish yourself in Canada. 

Tips to ace your interview - Learn the Employer's Perspective
The job interview is a chance to connect the dots and determine whether a candidate is really qualified for a job. Participants will learn what the employers want and how to prepare to ace the interview.
