A Growing Music Scene in the Heart of Fenton

Music and fellowship was the highlight of the news this past week.

Fenton is in the mist of a renaissance and running parallel to that is a growing art and cultural scene. Studies show the arts improve the quality of life.  Together with our members, donors, and partners in the community, the Fenton Community Orchestra (FCO) not only brings great music to our community, we are a place where local residents create together.

Celebrating five years of performing in the community, nearly 80 musicians played to 600 audience members last December.   This past week a student percussion ensemble from France visited and performed with the Fenton High School Jazz Ensemble.  Thanks to a grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Culture and the National Endowment for the Arts we are excited to announce the appointment of Jennifer Fleck as Executive Director of the FCO.

From our music in the schools program to performing in the community it’s an exciting time to join the fun and we couldn't do it without your support.  On behalf of the FCO Board of Directors, we would like to invite you to take a moment to learn more about your Community Orchestra and join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

The Fenton Community Orchestra is a multi-generational orchestra that provides a place for musicians of all ages to connect through music by offering an educational and entertaining music program for its members and audiences. The FCO enriches educational opportunities for local youth to perform along side experienced musicians.
The FCO is under the musical direction of Mr. Andrew Perkins, Director of Bands for Fenton Area Public Schools and is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors.  The board meets every second Tuesday of the month and the Orchestra rehearses in the Fenton High School Band Room every Thursday night 6:30-8:30pm.

The FCO is a community supported orchestra and donations are tax deductible as we are a 501c3 non-profit organization.
