In Harvest We Trust

From July through September, farmers across the United States are harvesting delicious, nutritious, canned fruits, vegetables and beans, getting them ready for us to enjoy all year long. This 4th of the July, we’re celebrating America by taking you on a journey to the farm, to show you just exactly where some of your favorite vegetables come from!

First up, Jeff Sommers, General Manager, Wysocki Produce Farm, a Del Monte producer, shares a farmer’s perspective on the joys of growing green beans and how particular growing seasons are required to yield the perfect quality green bean.

New Videos Showcase The Simple Process of Canning = Similar to Home Canning

According to our recent Health Professional Survey, just under two-thirds of Health Professionals who responded (60%-63%) agreed that canned foods are minimally processed, while around one-third (34%-36%) continue to believe that they require preservatives. 

Given this and the growing interest in clean labels, we want to continue to arm health and nutrition professionals with shareable resources to help explain the simple process behind canning fruits, vegetables and beans. To help, we’ve gathered some of our members’ videos and put them all in one place for you on Mealtime.
