Which Filler is Right for Your Project?

Utilizing a filler with liquid tooling is a great way to alter your material to achieve the benefits you need most. When selecting a filler, consider the requirements of your project as well as the size of the tool and the type of resin you are using.

What Do You Need Your Filler To Do?

Improve surface finish and wear resistance
Try: Aluminum Powder, Graphite Powder, or Aluminum Sand

Reduce weight of an epoxy or urethane casting
Try: Low-Density Filler or Walnut Shells

Reduce shrinkage and/or exotherm
Try: DT081 / DT082, Glass Bubbles, or Aluminum Fillers

Increase thickness
Try: Calcium Carbonate, Milled Glass Fibers, Cotton Flock, Fumed Silica, or Wood Flour

Increase fire retardant properties
Try: Alumina Trihydrate

Please Note: the larger the particle size, the weaker the casting will become. Smaller particle sizes generally yield a more durable part.
