Diemaking Adhesives for your Coated Dieboards

In our last newsletter, we offered two great coated dieboards for those of you making dies with a Gerber Profile Router* and matching them to steel counters.

Today, we would like to explore the proper adhesives needed to glue boards together as well as bond rubber to slick surfaces such as UV Stabilized and White Seal Birch.

BirchBond™ adhesive is used to glue the uncoated sides of two 5/16” UV Stabilized Birch boards together to create a flat and stabilized 5/8” cutting die. This premium adhesive may be applied with brush or roller and offers excellent wet tack that helps keep the laminated boards stable during clamping.

Adhering rubber to coated dieboards can be a challenge.  Freeman’s Z-Bond™ adhesive creates the strongest bond between the rubber and coated dieboards. Z-Bond™ is a water-based pressure sensitive adhesive that adheres rubber to slick surfaces and can be removed with little to no residue for re-knifing.
