Energy saving tips for summer

It's easy to save energy this summer with some forward planning. Think ahead and prepare your home for hot days this summer. These five tips will get you started:

  1. Pre-cool your home. Use the early mornings and evenings to use airconditioning and keep the home cool.
  2. Close off rooms that aren’t in use, don’t need to be cooled, or can be cooled later in the day
  3. Close blinds to keep the cool air in.
  4. Set air conditioners to between 24 and 26 degrees.
  5. Install external shading or plant a tree.

By taking note of where the sun is shining on your home during the hottest part of the day, you can make decisions about how best to prepare your home and save energy this summer.
