Risk-Prone Counties
The COVID-19 Policy Alliance at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) recently released maps  and interactive dashboards aimed at helping frontline workers find the people most likely to suffer from the deadly effects of COVID-19. The map shows the most risk-prone counties in the United States by highlighting areas with clusters of people in the ‘high-risk’ category, including people over sixty-five years of age and those with underlining medical conditions, such as obesity and diabetes. The map also depicts the number of COVID-19 cases per county in the U.S. to highlight virus contraction hotspots. The group’s aim is to use telehealth services to connect doctors and patients with screening tolls, as well as keeping the public informed with evolving disease and risk data.
This interactive map depicts the U.S. counties where people are most at risk of contracting the virus (red counties have higher risk-profiles). All COVID-19 updates will be displayed in a red box.
Knife Attack
Police have arrested three Sudanese nationals responsible in connection with a knife attack in the town of Romans-sur-Isère in southeastern France on Saturday. The attack began when one assailant entered a tobacco shop and attacked the shop owner and his wife, before moving to a butcher shop and continuing down the street. At least two people were killed and five were injured in the stabbing spree. The assailant was apprehended by police at the scene, and two acquaintances were later arrested for questioning. French police have launched an anti-terror investigation into the attacks. Since 2015, 258 people have been killed in terrorism-related attacks in France.

Cyclone Harold Hits South Pacific
A category five cyclone struck Vanuatu in the South Pacific today, and is predicted to intensify over the next 12-24 hours. The cyclone struck neighboring Solomon Islands as a category one last week, killing 27 people and is expected to pass through the capital, Port Vila, by early Tuesday. Flash floods, hurricane-force winds, and raging seas have already affected parts of the northwest islands in Vanuatu. While the country is in a state of emergency due to COVID-19, there are concerns about how humanitarian efforts after the natural disaster will impact the nation while they try to remain virus-free.

A: Himalayan Mountains
Spanning 500,000 square miles, the Gobi Desert receives only 7.6 inches of rain a year because it blocked from the rains formed over the Indian Ocean by the Himalayan Mountain Range and the Tibetan Plateau.
