Burger King uses FIFA to prove they know how to bend it


The world of gaming is continually overlooked by traditional marketers, despite incredible popularity, possible exposure and the trailing effect it has on all things pop culture. However Burger King spotted a brilliant opportunity on Twitch. It went like this: Real life uniform sponsorship of a little-known Single A team called STEVENAGE FC was a steal at $50K. Burger King bought-in knowing millions of FIFA 20 gamers are always after a new look and a new challenge. AND when both play to 10's of millions of more fans watching on Twitch, it could make a team of jersey's with their logo become the most marketable sports franchise in the world. Online culture mag COMPLEX, recently launched an insights platform called Collective. Their inaugural report details a growing mental health crisis among 18-34-year-olds that they've dubbed GENERATION STRESSED. The report aims to answer what mental health means to each of us, how we face it, who do we trust dealing with it, and what role brands and marketing play in all of it. One important stat, 69% of 18-34-year-olds don't seek mental health help because our society and culture makes us fearful to be (or seem) vulnerable. #millennials #mentalhealth #covid #research

Bing Gets Rebranded Microsoft Bing, How does that change anything?

Inc.'s Jason Aten hyperbolized the move as "the one thing no brand should ever do" but some of us might ask, "What does Bing really have to lose?." Microsoft touts the move as a way to better integrate products into a consumer understanding of the "Microsoft Family," following similar moves as Office 365 switched to Microsoft 365, the Windows Store to Microsoft Store to match rollouts of Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Teams. These seem like good reasons, but like Aten suggests, it's worth asking if part of the calculus was also to use the recent positive brand association to Microsoft, as a way to help lift the struggling Bing brand.
