Hello my friends,
It's been a while since you've heard from me. It's good to be back on the water! The boat went in on Friday, and I've spent every spare moment I've had there, getting it ready for the season. I'm in the process of installing a solar array, so Appoggiatura can make her own power at anchor. So much to do, so much fun to have.
Speaking of which, this Friday she and I will be providing a three-hour tour of the lake for veterans and kids with cancer from Camp Sunshine as part of the Trolling for Troops events. This event is being run and sponsored by the Wounded Heroes of Maine, Camp Sunshine, Cabela's, and Snug Harbor Guide Services. I have started a GoFundMe so that you all can be part of this special event. The needs are small, so any extra money collected by the campaign will be donated directly to Camp Sunshine, a summer camp in Casco, Maine for critically ill children and their families.
As for special gigs coming up! The Squid Jiggers will be performing their Seventh Annual Newfoundland Day—a holiday we invented for our Newfie friends—this Saturday at Poland Spring Resort. Tickets are still available by visiting my website store. The event includes a buffet of authentic Newfie delicacies and a Screech-In for those who wish to become honorary Newfies! There are two different tickets available: with buffet or without buffet, so select carefully.
In other news, my calendar is just jam-packed with local gigs for the summer. Every Wednesday (8-11PM) and Saturday (9PM-12AM) you can find me at Bull Feeney's in Portland, Maine's Old Port area. Thursdays (7-10PM, which may change to 8-11PM in June. Changes will be made on the website calendar if that happens) have me at Byrnes' Irish Pub in Brunswick, Maine. Sundays (2-5PM) I will be spending my afternoons at Dirigo Brewery in Biddeford, sampling their fabulous lagers! If you're around this summer, swing in and join me at one of these fabulous watering holes for some singing and fun!
Have a wonderful summer!
