Where Africa's Startup Activity Is Concentrated
Virtual capital funding for African startups are forecasted to amount to between $2.25 billion and $2.8 billion this year, a record high for the continent, according to a report released by AfricArena. Africa's VC investments reached an all-time high in 2019 when 234 tech companies raised $2.02 billion in 250 equity rounds, a 74 percent increase on the $1,163 recorded in 2018.

Millennials spurred growth in sustainable investing for years. Now, all generations are interested in ESG options 
Millennials will begin to turn 40 in 2021. They have a reputation for being values-driven in their approach to their money and their careers. One-third of millennials often or exclusively use investments that take ESG factors into account, compared with 19% of Gen Z, 16% of Gen X and 2% of baby boomers. Investors contributed $51.1 billion to sustainable funds in 2020, compared with less than $5 billion five years ago. Now, every generation wants in.


Why circular economy transition is a billion-dollar opportunity for Africa
In a circular economy products and resources are recycled, repaired and reused, as opposed to a “linear economy” where they are made, used and disposed of. This is a huge opportunity for the African continent, it eliminates waste and strengthens resilience. It is quickly gaining traction as a new model for sustainable growth.


ESG and Renewable Energy in Africa
"The demand for renewables is only set to increase and green energy must form a key part of Africa's power mix going forward. However, renewable energy companies are not sustainable by default. Developing and articulating ESG metrics can pose a significant challenge to African energy projects as they prepare investment rounds." In partnership with, DLA Piper, Invest Africa Ltd discussed ESG best practices in African renewables on the 13th of May.
