The swan boats will be back and open on Saturday, May 8th at 10am.

The City of Boston
will move into a modified version of the
current phase of the state's reopening plan,
effective Friday, April 30.
The City will delay most of the state’s reopening guidance by three weeks.

Effective Friday, April 30,
Boston will align with the state’s updated Face Coverings Order:

  • Face coverings will be required at all times at indoor and outdoor venues and events, except when eating or drinking.
  • Face coverings are recommended to be worn both inside and outside during small gatherings at private homes.
  • Face coverings are not required outside in public spaces when individuals are able to remain at a safe distance from others.
  • Also effective April 30, public gatherings in Boston may increase to 100 people indoors and 150 people outdoors.
  • In Boston, all private gatherings and events in private residences will remain subject to current capacity limits of 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors.
  • Both public and private gathering limits will increase to 200 people indoors and 250 people outdoors on June 19.
  • Boston will allow indoor and outdoor stadiums, arenas and ballparks to increase capacity to 25 percent.

Cilantro Lime Chicken

Cilantro lime chicken thighs are incredibly juicy and bursting with bright, Latin flavors. This is an easy weeknight meal the entire family will love. Watch the video to see how I make it!
PREP TIME: 5 mins         COOK TIME: 25 mins
MARINATE: 30 mins +     TOTAL TIME: 1 hr
SERVINGS: 6 servings    CALORIES: 331kcal
 AUTHOR: Lisa Bryan

  • 6 chicken thighs bone-in and skin-on
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil divided
  • 2 limes zested and juiced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup cilantro leaves chopped

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together two tablespoons of olive oil, lime juice and zest, cumin, chili powder, minced garlic, honey, salt, pepper, and chopped cilantro. You can also pulse in a food processor until it's combined.
  • Combine the marinade and chicken thighs in a bowl or shallow dish. Marinate chicken for 30 minutes to an hour in the fridge.
  • When the chicken is done marinating, take it out of the fridge and let it sit for 10-15 minutes at room temperature.
  • Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Heat the remaining one tablespoon of olive oil in a large ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 5-6 minutes with the skin side down, until they're golden brown.
  • Then flip the chicken and sear the other side for 2-3 minutes. The chicken will not be fully cooked at this point.
  • Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake the chicken thighs for 15-20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Remove the chicken from the oven, let it rest for 5 minutes, and garnish with extra lime slices and cilantro leaves before serving.
The West End in bloom

Happy May!
Today marks the first day of Asian/ Pacific American Heritage Month.  Check the link below, in the red box, to learn more.

The West End is, and always has been, a neighborhood rich with diversity, so we hope that our neighbors and residents, of all colors, races, religions and cultures feel safe and welcome.  Our world continues to struggle with racism, discrimination and violence.

The state is starting to open up, as the numbers of people who are vaccinated increases.  While the city of Boston is staying behind the state in some areas (check out the blue box on the left), it seems to look like we might have more of a summer this year. (knock on wood, and cross your fingers!)

There are many things to celebrate in May!
May 3rd is World Laughter Day, We think everyone needs to find a way to celebrate this day
after the year + we have had, we deserve a laugh!
May 5th is Cinco de Mayo - always a good reason to get take out! Bodega Canal or Qdoba
May 10th is Mother's Day - celebrate the Mothers & mother figures in your life
May 12th is International Nurses Day -they deserve a little extra this year for their tireless efforts

Enjoy the weather, enjoy each other, and keep staying safe!

If you can, help our neighborhood businesses, get some take out, eat outside if you're comfortable, check out the B-local app, and shop when you can.
