December Centernews - Part 2

We will do our best not to inundate your inbox with too many emails!  We will send two newsletters a month, and maybe an email or two for things that come up, or reminders!
We had a great trip to Freeport, Maine!
New friends were made, shopping was done, and it was really only cold at the end of the day! 

Thanks to all who joined us on the trip, there will be more trips to come!

The Friends of the West End Library had their Annual Meeting Fiesta with music, dance & food. Follow on Instagram #FriendsWestEndBPL for more updates

 Meetings are the first Thursday of every month.  
All are welcome 6 pm -8pm
 In the event of a snow cancellation, ABCD will post to the local news networks, and our center will contact the mailing list.  Feel free to disseminate to you and the seniors in your lives.  Van transportation will NOT be provided. For questions or more information please call 617-523-8125.

Come together for an evening of art, music, and activities in celebration of Hanukkah, the Jewish festival of lights. Immerse yourself in history and tradition with a tour of the MFA’s Judaica collection, catch an array of musical performances by artists from around the world, and view a one-of-a-kind menorah created by a local artist before participating in a community candle lighting.


Monday, Dec. 9 through Feb. 2, 2020
The Seaport has partnered with Canadian art production company Creos and architectural firm KANVA on  “Entre les rangs,” a twinkling collection of 28,000 handmade white crystalline stems topped with white reflectors that will be displayed on Seaport Common (85 Northern Ave.)

The exhibit, meant to evoke a “rural wheat field swaying in the breeze” according to a press release, will refract light from projectors mounted nearby, and will change based on weather and human interaction.

Cr[EAT]or Market
Friday - Sundays in December
Back for its 3rd year, the Cr[EAT]or Market welcomes 25 local pop-up artisans during the holiday season, offering specialty goods and gifts alongside permanent BPM vendors. Artisans will be spread throughout the Market floor.

Holiday Dish Demo
Thursday, December 19th, 11:30-1pm
in the Demonstration Station
Live demonstrations of Holiday recipes!  Grab a recipe card, and find the ingredients in the BPM.

New Year's Eve Ice Sculpture Stroll

Boston Harbor Now is proud to announce the return of the Boston Harbor Ice Sculpture Stroll, our largest stroll ever!  The Downtown Waterfront and Harborwalk will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland

Events are FREE and open to the public.

The celebration kicks off at Noon on December 31st with live performances in Copley Square, the Prudential Center and Copley Place. In the afternoon and evening, the ice sculptures light up and a large procession makes its way to Boston Common for the first fireworks show. Live music performances rock the hours until midnight when the countdown begins.

5:30pm - Join The Skating Club of Boston at The Boston Common Frog Pond for a FREE figure skating show featuring national and international competitive figure skaters, soloists, groups, wee skaters, and Team Excel Synchronized Skating and Theatre On Ice of Boston teams. First Night’s production will star 3-Time U.S. Champion, World Silver Medalist, and Olympic Medalist, Ashley Wagner!

7pm - Enjoy a fantastic Fireworks Display over Boston Common

Ring in the New Year with the Countdown on Copley featuring an amazing pyrotechnics show launched from the roof of the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel.

OR watch the Fireworks display over Boston Harbor with viewing in the North End and the Seaport.

First Day, January 1st will be celebrated on Copley Square from Noon to 4pm with activities for families and children.
