The West End Museum

Runs February 18, 2020 through May 30, 2020.
Reception on February 29 from 2-4pm.
Exhibition and reception are free.

Boston, MA— On Tuesday, February 18, The West End Museum premieres a new exhibit, “Cycling Legends of the West End,” which highlights three key characters in bicycling history. Two of them were West End residents; one was a longtime physician at Massachusetts General Hospital. Concurrent programs complement the show, which runs through May 30. Programs will include a West End Heritage Night, author talks, roller racing, bike tours, film screenings, and the New England Builders Ball (NEBB).
The exhibit and reception are FREE.

Our good friends at Eagle Bank are sponsoring the Irish feast, which will consist of corned beef and cabbage, vegetables, and shepherd's pie.  We are planning something delicious for dessert.
Van transportation will NOT be provided, and in the event of a weather-related closure, ABCD will post to the news networks and we will contact the mailing list.

As always, please call the office at
617-523-8125 with any questions

2020 South Boston St. Patrick's Day Parade
Dorchester Avenue
March 15, 2020

Bostonians were the first to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in North America. On March 17, 1737, Boston’s Irish community joined together in festivities of their homeland and to honor the memory of the below Patron Saint of Ireland.

In 1901, the parade moved to South Boston, a neighborhood that was not only home to a robust Irish community, but was the site of Dorchester Heights, where the evacuation of British troops from Boston on March 17, 1776 was made possible and is commemorated.

A Little of What’s Coming…
Revelry & Revolution Cruise, March 21st, 11am - 1:30pm, Long Wharf
2020 Revere Polar Plunge, March 28th, 11am - 1pm, Revere Beach

Recipe Corner

Pancetta, Pasta & Peas

serves 4

16 ounces fettuccine

8 ounces pancetta, diced

1/2 onion, chopped

1 (10-ounce) bag frozen peas, (or fresh peas, since it's spring!)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup grated Parmesan

Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

1/2 lemon, juiced

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add pasta and cook until al dente. Drain pasta, reserving 1 cup of pasta water.

Meanwhile, saute pancetta in a large saucepan over medium-high heat until golden and crisp, about 6 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.

In the same pan, with the pancetta drippings, saute onions until softened, about 5 minutes. Add peas and garlic and saute for 3 more minutes. Stir in the warm pasta, and pancetta, as toss with tongs. Moisten pasta with some of the reserved pasta water, and add in the Parmesan cheese. Toss again to incorporate, season with salt and a generous amount of pepper, sprinkle with lemon juice, and serve.

We encourage you to dine at restaurants in our neighborhood.  We know that it can get crazy when there are games/shows at the TD Garden, but when there is a dark night, these businesses could use our support!  We are going to start highlighting some of our West End restaurants!
