Next Foundation Health Grants Program Application Deadline is March 15

Foundation for Community Health is now accepting funding applications for health-related projects in the winter cycle our Health Grants Program. Made possible by earnings from permanent endowments and limited historical gifts, the Health Grants Program is another way we work with our donors to advance healthy lives in western Montana. Grant awards in the current cycle will provide focused charitable support for health-focused initiatives in two target areas: Diabetes and Rehabilitation Services. Applications are open to organizations with a tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code, and where appropriate Section 170(c), as well as educational institutions that serve children, families and vulnerable people in western Montana. Additional eligibility guidelines, funding criteria and funds available can be accessed on the Foundation website at fchwmt.org.

Applications for funding in this grant cycle are due no later than 3PM on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Applications can be downloaded or completed online at fchwmt.org.
Please contact our Foundation office at 406.926.2522 or foundation@fchwmt.org if you have any questions.

To date, the Foundation's Health Grants Program has awarded more than $21,000 benefiting health-focused projects of eight organizations.

Healthcare Scholarship Applications Due March 8
Foundation for Community Health is now accepting applications for high school healthcare scholarships. Scholarship applications can be submitted by high school seniors attending school within Missoula County who intend to pursue a career in a health-related field. Applications and eligibility guidelines are available on our website or by request at foundation@fchwmt.org or 406.926.2522. Applications are due no later than 5PM on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. Our Healthcare Scholarship Program is in its 27th year, having provided more than $397,000 in scholarship awards to 590 recipients through the generosity of our Foundation donors. Foundation donors provide encouragement and financial support for scholarship recipients aspiring to become the next generation of quality, compassionate healthcare providers. Dr. Jon Gildea and Sigri Thorn-Gildea are leading this year’s scholarship solicitation. To make a gift, contact Dorcie Dvarishkis, Executive Director, at dorcied@fchwmt.org or call 406.926.2522. Safe Kids Spotlight: Child Development Center
Each month, we feature one of our Coalition partners and share information about the important work they do to make safety a community priority in western Montana. This month, our Safe Kids Spotlight is on Child Development Center.

Child Development Center (CDC) partners with families whose children have developmental delays or disabilities and provides education, training, resources, intervention and other family-focused support to maximize children’s abilities and well-being. Creating safe sleep environments is important to support parents and the well-being of infants. Sleep-related deaths are a leading cause of death for children birth to age one. Sharing a room (but never a bed), placing baby on its back to sleep every sleep, and providing a firm sleeping surface without extra bedding or toys are simple and important steps all parents and caregivers can take to prevent sleep-related injury and death.

Learn more about CDC and their programs at childdevcenter.org. You can also follow CDC on Facebook.
