SELF CARE/SELF COMPASSION FOR PARENTS…BEYOND BUBBLE BATHS

Getting to the sources of stress, anxiety and triggers
Wed Dec 8, 10-11:30 AM

This very practical workshop will be facilitated within the principle that “you cannot water a garden with an empty watering can.” It will be a 1.5 hour Zoom workshop that will be helpful to parents or caregivers of children aged newborn to 5 years old.
Having young children is an enormous adjustment from your life before having kids. And whether we like it or not, we are in charge! So whatever is going on for us, impacts our whole family. Facilitated by Syd Bosel, a parent educator with over 25 years leading groups and workshops at ESFP, such as Nobody's Perfect and Circle of Security. She brings a wealth of knowldege, compassion and humour to her work.

This workshop will be pragmatic and realistic in supporting parents to figure out what’s missing… how to address the sources of your:

  • Triggers (Ever notice that stuff that didn’t bother you before, drives you nuts now?)
  • Anger (Going deeper than the Band-Aid solutions.)
  • Shifting Values
  • Changing Priorities
  • Feeling Compromised

Come with a problem in mind, as there will be opportunity for you to work on something that you are currently dealing with. Register HERE.

We have several more programs in the works for the New Year, dates to be determined:

Circle of Security  is a program designed for parents and carers of children aged 0-6+ years who want to strengthen the bonds with their children and would like support to help their children to build secure relationships. The Circle of Security is a visual map of attachment. The Circle of Security figure is a central visual focused on helping caregivers reflect upon children's attachment needs in order to promote secure attachment with a child. A series of video clips are viewed followed by reflection questions in the group discussion. This helps parents and carers become attuned to the child's needs along the "circle." On Zoom.

COPE- Collective of Parents Empowered is a longer-term support and discussion group, on Zoom. It takes a similar format to Nobody's Perfect, but because parents can participate for 3 sessions of 8 weeks (24 weeks potential) they can go much, much deeper and broader into the issues they want to address. COPE is unique to Eastside Family Place, and after a few years break, will be offered again in the new year. We are very excited to make this kind of deeper work available to a new generation of parents of kids 5 and under! on Zoom.

Creating Connections and Calming the Self. For 2-5 year olds to develop more social and emottonal co-regulation with their parent or carer. Based on expressive arts and movement.
