Tip of the Week:
The breath that you invoke during yoga practice can benefit you greatly off the mat as well. When stress or anxiety threaten to elevate your heart rate or cause you to feel depressed, saddened, or fearful, take a moment, close the eyes, and inhale deeply--yet softly. Exhale the same way. Repeat this several more times. This simple act which you can employ anywhere, anytime telegraphs a calming effect to the brain, which says to the parasympathetic nervous system "I am ok."
