DEPUTY PREMIER ADDRESSES GOSFORD ERINA BUSINESS CHAMBER MEMBERS
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW The Hon. John Barilaro MP addressed close to a hundred members of the Gosford Erina Chamber of Commerce last Wednesday at a morning tea at The Entertainment Grounds in the first face-to-face meeting for the Chamber since COVID-19 started.
Mr Barilaro’s talk was focused on the regions of NSW of which he confirmed that the Central Coast is one of these regions.
Following a question from President Rod Dever that research has shown that 15 separate government departments and agencies have a differing view of the Coast.
In response to a question from the Chamber’s Treasurer David Evers that “one of the key aims of the Chamber is to have a university campus in Gosford, which was supported by the Premier and the Prime Minister, is there regional funding available to bring this about quickly?”, Mr Barilaro said, “this is something we are committed to.” In saying that he referred to $27 million in funding for the University of New England for a campus in Armidale.
Some highlights from The Minister’s speech were:
Strong support for a University/Education precinct to be built in Gosford
As a passionate football fan of the round ball kind he was supportive of the Stadium for national sporting events and keeping the Mariners on the Coast.
With special activation precincts already announced throughout NSW the Central Coast is in a great position for funding especially for the University Campus in Gosford.
