COOPER BASKETBALL

Alumni & Support Club

Hello Cooper Basketball family,  we hope you had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend.  Just want to update you on Cooper Basketball for the month of September 2022.

Cooper International Academy

2022/23 Season

Cooper International Academy has been hard at work getting their players to the next level.  Congrats to Jaylen Carter landing a Division 1 Scholarship to The University of Missouri (Kansas City), Uriyah Rojas signed with Cal State Dominguez Hills University, Andrew Palacios DeLeon and Alonzo Quiroz signed with the University of Antelope Valley.

2022/23 Season

Cooper International Academy boarding students arrive on Sept 6th and practice begins on Sept 10th.  This season we will have 14 boarding students with 11 from overseas.  Our players are from countries such as Nigeria, South Sudan, Bosnia, Romania, Rio De Janeiro, Japan, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Montenegro.  Our local players are from Rancho Cucamonga, Baldwin Park, Riverside and San Lorenzo.

HIGHLIGHT - GORDON MAGOK

Gordon Magok was the first Cooper International Academy player to arrive in US on August 9th.  He began workouts immediately and showed the Cooper Coaching staff that he is a hard worker and really loves the game.  Gordon is a 6'9" international student from South Sudan.  He will spend his first year in the US playing basketball for Cooper International Academy.  Gordon is a great young man and as we stated will work like no other to become the best player that he can become.  His goal is to play for Cooper International Academy and eventually get a scholarship to attend College in the US and one day return to his home to give back to the youth and improve the conditions there. Gordon comes from a lower income family in South Sudan so he is the recipient of a full scholarship from Cooper International Academy to help turn his dreams of attending college into reality.  With your help Gordon and many young men like him will have opportunities that young boys from his area could only dream of.

SUPPORT

We are looking for two things. Your support and your support!!!

The first type of support we need is your involvement.  Many of you are pillars in the business community and we could use your talents to help strategize in the planning and execution of securing a facility, upgrading our multimedia department, assisting in house keeping/ taking care of the boys and many other useful things that Cooper needs to flourish.  Most of all we want to communicate with you and many others to build a strong team to support our efforts.

The  second type of support is financial support. We are asking you to join our SHARING IS CARING program to sow a seed of life into our kids and our program.  We are asking our alumni and support team to begin our Sharing is Caring support program.  Our entire Dream Builders & Cooper Family has a chance to help support the vision that God has passed on to our group of dedicated mentors.
We are asking our alumni and support team to begin our Sharing is Caring support program.  Our entire Dream Builders & Cooper Family has a chance to help support the vision that God has passed on to our group of dedicated mentors. We are asking for a monthly donation of $100 to help us see our dreams turn into reality.  If that is not possible we encourage you to make a donation of any amount but make it monthly.  We will then be able to estimate how your on going support will make an impact in our efforts.
