Preparing for Safe Holidays

The Office of Emergency Management offers guidance about preparing for safe holidays

20th Anniversary of the Lighting of the Lawn

Rotunda with holiday lights

Tune in for the virtual Lighting of the Lawn TONIGHT at 7 p.m. The event will livestream at lightingofthelawn.com and will be available for viewing after the event. This year's Lighting of the Lawn is being held earlier than past years so that students can enjoy the show before returning home for an extended period that begins with the Thanksgiving holiday. Our own Facilities Management team works closely with student organizers each year to create this special event that has become a UVA tradition over 20 years. The lights will illuminate the Lawn until early January, so find an evening to come check them out. Be sure to complete your HOOS Health Check before you come to Grounds, wear a mask, and follow physical distancing guidelines. For more details about this year's Lighting of the Lawn, see this UVA Today story.

Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign

Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign logo

On Nov. 10, Vice President Kevin McDonald wrote to the UVA community about this year's Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign: "For more than twenty years, UVA has led statewide participation in the CVC, collectively raising more than $18 million from the generosity of thousands of University faculty and staff. While we are proud of this effort, our community needs our support now more than ever. This year’s campaign began in the midst of our ongoing fight against COVID-19, which has impacted so many. Giving through the CVC is one of the most effective ways you can help make a difference for organizations that support our local community."

Read more about supporting the community through the CVC in this UVA Today story. The campaign runs through Dec. 20.

Finance Strategic Transformation - Configuration and Prototype is Here!

Finance Strategic Transformation

As of November 1, we’re officially into the Configuration and Prototype phase of the project. This is the phase where we move from theoretical design of Workday Financials to concrete application. Config and Prototype is critical to ensure that we can get feedback from UVA stakeholders on the system design before rigorous system testing begins. During this phase, the project team is finalizing the first tenant build and testing it. They're also planning Customer Confirmation Sessions that will enable key stakeholders to see how UVA business processes work in the system with our data.

The first tenant build will have a subset of data and some processes available. Later tenant builds will be more comprehensive. Stakeholders invited to customer confirmation sessions will help confirm that the overall approach is on the right track. The people involved in these first Customer Confirmation Sessions will mostly be the same individuals who were involved in the architect sessions earlier this year. As we head into 2021, we’ll open it up more and more for other stakeholders to take a look. For more context on Config and Prototype, take a look at a post from Nicole Ferretti in the onlineCommunity.

New UVA Health Plan Pharmacy Provider

Effective January 1, 2021, UVA’s Health Plan Pharmacy Administration will switch from OptumRx to Aetna, the company that already administers the UVA Health Plan’s medical program. There are several advantages of combining medical and prescription coverage with a single administrator, and there also may be actions you need to take to prepare for the change. See the HR Prescription Drug Program 2021 webpage for these details.
