Combatting Reckless Driving

Reckless driving has skyrocketed in recent years and has become an epidemic. Although people think of this as a Milwaukee/Madison problem, it’s hitting Racine and Kenosha Counties, too.

This week, the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee that I chair heard two bills aimed at correcting this increasingly widespread problem. Senate Bill 90 raises the fines and penalties for reckless driving. Senate Bill 92 allows communities to impound the vehicles of repeat reckless drivers. Combined, these bills will give police more tools to stop reckless driving through our neighborhoods.

Happy Heavenly Birthday Kevin!
Thursday, March 16th would have been his 62nd

Kevin visiting me on the floor of the Wisconsin State Senate

As some of you know, my brother Kevin Wanggaard passed away this past year. He was an incredible person who always remembered everyone's birthday. In honor of his memory and his legacy of "paying it forward" please join me in doing something kind for someone else. Miss you brother!

Congratulations Wilmot Academic Decathlon

At the Capitol

This week the Boys and Girls Club of Kenosha stopped in my office during their day at the Capitol.

A fine group of students and teachers from Union Grove High School visited the Capitol on Monday.

Folks from the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) stopped in this week to discuss crisis intervention training and the creation of regional crisis intervention centers.
