NOTICE: the Burchard Wood Shop will be closed on Wednesday, April 20th as the staff participate in a first aid class.
A+D Director and Professor Henri de Hahn will be offering an off-campus mini Summer Session (July 27 through August 13, 2016) to Paris. The topic of the trip is to immerse students in a "Cultural excursion of the city of Paris through the lens of urban landscapes and its private and institutional architecture and interiors". A more complete description may be found though the following pdf link.
Please be advised that VT Renovations may be starting work Monday April 18th on the removal and replacement of the Derring Hall Stair. This will effect pedestrian traffic at the following buildings:
                Derring Hall 
                Cowgill Hall 
                Johnston Student Center 
                Bishop Favrao Hall 
A set of temporary stairs is currently being construction to alleviate pedestrian traffic flow issues while the existing stairs are being removed. A map is attached that shows the area of pedestrian impact in orange and the location of the temporary stair in yellow. 
Construction will last through the summer.

Career Services at Virginia Tech is inviting you to attend this 2016 Southeaster Regional Cooperative Education Conference that will be held on May 25-27 in Richmond, VA. SERCEC is an open group of interested practitioners in the field that gather once a year to learn from one another. Virginia Tech is a sponsor this year and Dr. Sands will kick off the SERCEC event on Wednesday evening, May 25th. Register by May 18, 2016.

Be Original Americas’ 7-week Summer Design Fellowship program will introduce two college students to all facets of creating innovative, high-quality products, from research, design, and manufacturing to marketing and distribution through hands-on, in-the-field learning. Each section of the fellowship will focus on a different aspect of the process from the perspective of Be Original Americas member companies, supplemented by visits to their showrooms, headquarters, and factories in New York City and throughout the United States. The SOM Prize and Travel Fellowship are two annual awards that are administered as a single competition. The awards are given to students and recent graduates of Architecture, Design (including interior design, landscape architecture, environmental graphics or industrial design ) and Urban Design.
