Community Sector e-Newsletter Edition  9 - 2019

Welcome and First Words
Hello PHamily, welcome to another edition of our bi-monthly community e-newsletter, "The Hype", for our Australian pulmonary hypertension community and beyond.   I can hardly believe that 2019 is all but over and this is our last e-newsletter for 2019!  LIfe has been incredibly challenging this year for some of us on the team, and I have not been able to keep you up to date quite as much as I have previously. We have done our best, and here is what's on offer this time around, enjoy!

The last event for the year was Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Month throughout November, which is celebrated annually, and globally. We have attached some items that may be of interest to you from our campaign, and will share everything from all over the globe with you in the new year. We congratulate the Lung Foundation Australia on a thier Webinar series for people living with pulmonary hypertension, and thank them for inviting us to be a part of that. We will post the videos as soon as they become available. We also included some of coverage of the ConnectGroups Association national awareness day, which was a lot of fun this year. I also experienced the joys of the team from Hancock Creative who host FREE conferences around Australia solely for NON PROFIT organisations to learn about how to engage better with you, our precious members.

As the year slides to an end, we reflect on all the highs and lows we have experienced together as a community and as individuals. We wish every family, big and small peace and goodwill, and hope that you stay safe and enjoy this time however you like to celebrate or recognise it.  Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our small but valuable organisation again this year.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all, with love from Melissa Dumitru and Team PHabulous at #PHNA

October Support Group Gathering for the PHNA Community in WA
Some pictures from our community support group gathering in October. Thank you to Niagara Therapy for being our guest speaker and sharing all about their amazing products. It was particularly appropriate the speaker has two nieces who live with Cystic Fibrosis and he was very well informed, easy to chat to and really delightful. There was lots of laughter as we got to try the products and we look forward to collaborating further with this team. I highly recommend them as a guest speaker at one of your events or meetings.

National Awareness Day
Just a few of the photos taken on the day of all the self help and support group organisations in attendance. Another great turn out, fantastic entertainment, and a well organised and executed event from the amazing team at CG.

Change the World Event

Save the World Event - Hancock Creative
This is the first year I have attended the free conference hosted by Hancock Creative and the brainchild of Alecia Hancock, whose body of work makes my head spin!  We were blessed to listen to guest speakers who are leaders in their fields, that we may never have had the opportunity to hear before. We got to learn so much not just about social media, but about the people and their lives and why they changed their worlds to help others in the non profit sector. An inspirational story you don't want to miss, take a look today HERE.

Lung Foundation Australia

Thank you to the Lung Foundation Australia for hosting their annual November Awareness Month Webinar series for people living with pulmonary hypertension. The three subjects that were covered this year were so interesting and each session was booked solid. Don't worry if you missed out as they will be available on our website and theirs very soon, for your viewing pleasure.

Mental Health Moment

Dangers of Loneliness and Social Isolation is Deadlier than Obesity!
In today's busy and fast paced world we are apparently more connected than ever before in history. There are so many forms of communication available now, that the stress of keeping up with them all has led instead to social isolation for many. This is an interesting article that you may enjoy.
