Holy Moment

We are all in this together! It matters so much.  Keep loving big.
Keep believing that Love will win—because it will!
Text for the day:
“For in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.”  Galatians 3:26
March 28, 2020

Dear Friends,
In this time of COVID 19, sometimes fear and anxiety can overwhelm us and/or paralyze us.  People have shared that it is hard to focus.  Sometimes they wander around the house in aimless ways.  Sometimes they are overcome with concern for children or grandchildren, spouses or other family and friends.  Sometimes they cry…or lose their patience.
That is normal.
Be kind to yourselves.  Be gentle with yourselves.  Don’t over expect productivity. Be soft with children and spouses and parents.
As Glennon Doyle has written,
Keep going.
That’s all you have to do, ever.
You really don’t have to be amazing
or fierce or beautiful
or successful, or good.
Just keep going, please.
Slowly is fine.
Crawling is fine.
No feeling is final
Except hope.
And, of course Mary Oliver’s poem, “Wild Geese” provide a similar understanding of how we experience God’s grace:
Wild Geese
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting—
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
So, dear friends, take these words into your being. Be gentle with yourself. Be gentle with your tribe.  This is a new wilderness we are wandering through and it requires that we practice and experience grace.
Together in Christ,
The Peace Team
