  • April 15: Raffle Ticket Counting Day- Come to the cafeteria after drop-off and help us count!
  • April 17: Teacher Flower Day- bring some flowers for your teachers & also help vase them up after drop-off
  • April 17: CPS Board of Education 2019-20 Budget Hearing- Special Public Meeting at 7pm @ the CPS Education Center in Corryville
  • April 18: Kilgour Transition Night from 4:30 - 6:30pm @ Kilgour School
  • April 22: LSDMC Meeting from 8 - 9am @ Kilgour School

Two easy ways to help:

Teacher Flower Day

Wednesday, April 17


Kilgour's annual Teacher Flower Day is when each student will bring in a flower for each teacher in their class and then parent volunteers will collect and assemble a bouquet for the teachers. Please bring your flowers in and find your classroom's volunteer (usually a Room Parent) who can collect those.

We need volunteers for each class to collect and assemble these bouquets that the children are always so proud of! Please SIGN UP HERE. We should be done by 11am. Please bring shears/scissors and a bucket to collect flowers in. Vases will be provided by PTA.

Kilgour Transition Night

Wednesday, April 17

4:30 - 6:30pm @ Kilgour School

Come meet your students' next teachers and hear about the curriculum requirements for your upcoming grade-level. Please stay tuned for Principal Communications for more details on the evening's schedule.

PTA Platinum & Carnival Presenting Sponsors and Kilgour parents, Charlie Williams & Erin Knodel of Lifetime Financial, are hosting a FREE wine tasting and fun Mustangs gathering at Unwind Wine Bar for Kilgour families. Historically, their events fill up fast, so get your tickets now! Be seeing you!
Please Note: If you already had tickets and last month's TORNADO kept you in your bunker, you're getting a rain check and those tix have been transferred. If you don't have tickets, please still RSVP- there are openings from people who were able to come last month.

Now Taking Self-Nominations for PTA Roles

Kilgour needs your VOICE, your ENERGY, your IDEAS. Kilgour families come in all shapes & sizes, with diverse backgrounds & experiences, from different lifestyles & neighborhoods. PTA wants and needs volunteers from every family to provide the strength this diversity offers our school. 

In addition to helping build Kilgour's community inside and outside our building, PTA provides annually on average over $150,000 dollars of financial support and uncounted thousands of volunteer-hours- all of it crucial to our students' success.

We cannot continue to do this without you! Please let us know how you're willing to help. Nominate yourself by filling out this form.

The following Elected Positions will be up for Vote at our NEXT PTA Meeting on Wednesday, May 8. If you have interest, please let the PTA Board know at board@kilgourpta.org so we can put you on the slate!
  • President-Elect (becomes President the following year)
  • Recording Secretary (prepares documents and takes notes for all PTA Meetings)
  • Corresponding Secretary (assists with PTA official correspondence)
  • Technology Chair (maintains and upgrades PTA systems)
  • Parliamentarian (advises PTA Board on PTA Rules & Bylaws in addition to parliamentary procedure)
  • Treasurer & Budget Chair positions are currently in the midst of their two-year terms. PTA is seeking Trainees who have interest in running next year.
The following committee roles are Unelected Positions but need to be filled in order for Kilgour PTA to continue its effective support of our school. If you have interest or experience in these areas, please let us know of any questions you have about the roles. Most have experienced parents who have already been in the role to help, others you get to define for yourself!
  • Community Fundraising Sponsorships (for annual supporters)
  • Year-Round Community Solicitation (for Auction & Carnival)
  • Restaurant & Shopping Nights/Rewards Programs
  • Health, Wellness, and Green 
  • STEAM+ Families Programming
  • Room Parents Coordination
  • Social/Community
  • Teacher Appreciation
  • Sixth Grade Events
  • Kindergarten Round Up
  • Parent-led Clubs (what's your interest?)
  • Outreach Support (Food Drive, Fall Costume Shoppe, Toy Drive, etc)
  • Synopsis Newsletter
  • Public Relations
  • Photographers
  • School Bulletin Boards & Flyer Support
  • Buildings & Grounds Support
Thank you to everyone who volunteers at Kilgour in any capacity- whether at a PTA event, coaching a Sports Team, reading in the classrooms, helping hang art, serve spaghetti, chaperone field trips, donate money, contribute supplies.
