$780,000 Federal Grant Will Give UAMS Medical Students Hands-on Cancer Research Experience
A $780,000 grant from the National Cancer Institute will fund a hands-on summer cancer research experience for medical students at UAMS.
“Partnership in Cancer Research will provide focused and innovative research experiences in laboratories, community outreach programs and clinics for selected first- and second-year students in the UAMS College of Medicine,” said Thomas Kelly, Ph.D., who, together with Richard Nicholas, M.D., will lead the program and are co-principal investigators for the grant. Virtual UAMS Research Expo Coming Aug. 25
Researchers at UAMS, Arkansas Children’s Research Institute and the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System are invited to participate in the second annual UAMS Research Expo, from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25. The event will be held via Zoom interactive video and is sponsored by the Translational Research Institute (TRI). The expo is an excellent way to learn about services and funding opportunities that can help speed the pace of your research.
Attendees will receive brief overviews of about 20 essential services, including TRI’s Clinical Trials Innovation Unit, UAMS IRB, TRI Community Engagement, Cancer Institute, Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine, Office of Research Compliance, TRI ARresearch, and Clinical Billing and Compliance.
