Reid D. Landes, Ph.D.

As a statistician who collaborates with a variety of investigators, Dr. Landes' research endeavors are wide. With respect to statistics research, he currently works on statistical inference in N-of-1 trials and sample size calculations of “Effective Dose 50” or ED50 experiments. Read more>
2021 Medical Research Endowment Awards

Shuk-Mei Ho, Ph.D., vice chancellor for research and innovation, announces the 2020 Medical Research Endowment Awards granted by the UAMS Foundation Fund Board. Approximately $100,000 from the endowment income will be available for research projects in 2021.
 
The application deadline is 5 p.m. July 20, 2020. Submissions will be reviewed by the UAMS Research Committee (i.e., faculty members from the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, Health Professions, Academic Senate and the Graduate School). Following reviews and recommendations, the UAMS Foundation Fund Board will approve the list of award recipients.
 
Please review the MRE online application form requirements carefully. Non-conforming applications will be returned without review. In addition, all applicable approvals (HRAC, biohazard, animal use, etc.) may be obtained after the grant has been approved by the UAMS Foundation Fund Board, but must be complete before funds are awarded. The review process should be complete by September 30, 2020 so work may begin January 1, 2021.

Findings on DNA Damage Repair Published by UAMS Cancer Researcher


A research team led by cancer researcher Justin Leung, Ph.D., at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has uncovered the role of the protein RNF168 in DNA damage repair and shown how mutations of the protein affect people with a rare genetic condition.

The study titled “Histone H2A variants alpha1-extension helix directs RNF168-mediated ubiquitination” was published in the May 18 issue of the open-access journal Nature Communications. Read more>
