From the Executive Director
The NPFMC recently released the draft agenda and schedule for the upcoming April meeting where the new analysis of the RQE proposal will be presented. We will be sending out talking points for your review after the RQE analysis is released later this week. It is imperative that we have industry representation to support this proposal. Without adequate support, this proposal will not move forward for final review and action in October. The RQE proposal has been in the works for many years and supported by countless hours of effort by SEAGO, its members, and others in the charter industry. We do not want it to stall or vanish due to our silence.
Having you in Anchorage for the Advisory Panel (AP) and the Council sections on RQE would be a strong advantage for us. If you are only available for one section, please choose between the Council section currently scheduled on [Saturday, April 9th at 1 p.m.] or AP scheduled on [Thursday, April 7th at 8 a.m.]. If you are not available to join us in Anchorage, please let us know how soon you can submit a letter of support for the committee packet. These can be written using the talking points and sample letters you will receive next week.
If you can join us, we’d appreciate you anticipating a minimum of two days for each section (AP& Council) you will attend, as both meetings may take longer than they are currently scheduled and we want your travel to count.
Please find the draft schedule attached. We would love to know which meetings you’ll be able to attend, when you will be arriving and departing, and if you need help with booking your hotel by March 25th. We are also able to provide a limited amount of financial help with the trip if you let us know the level of assistance you need in a timely manner.
Thank you for your time and effort, this is one of the most important issues facing our industry and this proposal is the only action currently proposed that would let us choose our own destiny. Without the RQE, you and your clients can anticipate stricter regulations in the coming years and the RQE won’t pass unless you participate.
Please contact me with any questions, concerns or suggestions.
