CEPR European Conference on Household Finance 2022

Ispra, Italy
5-7 October 2022

Submission Deadline: Friday 15 July 2022, 12:00pm (BST)

The CEPR Research and Policy Network (RPN) on Household Finance and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission are organising the 2022 CEPR European Conference on Household Finance that will take place in Ispra, Italy. The objective is to present state-of-the-art empirical and theoretical research on household financial behaviour and on how it is influenced by other choices, government policies, and the overall economic environment. In addition to the two-day conference taking place on 6-7 October 2022, a CEPR Research-Policy-Practice event will be organised by the local organisers and will take place on 5 October 2022.

The organisers particularly encourage submissions from PhD students in household finance planning to go on the job market in Winter 2023. Students must apply online stating that they are a PhD student and supply their CV. Top submissions, written exclusively by students, will be included in the regular conference programme and in the candidates for the best student paper prize, awarded by the CEPR Research and Policy Network on Household Finance. Past awardees have launched highly promising careers, including assistant professor positions in top academic institutions globally.

RFS Dual Submission Option

The organising committee is glad to announce that there will be a dual-submission option with the Review of Financial Studies (RFS) for this edition of the conference. The sponsoring RFS Editor is Tarun Ramadorai.

Papers that are submitted for presentation at the conference may also be submitted to the Review of Financial Studies under its dual review system at no extra cost. Papers rejected at any stage of the RFS dual review process are not considered to have been “rejected” at the RFS, which means that the authors may submit a future version of the paper to the RFS, regardless of whether the paper is rejected from the conference or from the RFS during the dual submission process. For a paper to be considered under the dual submission option, it may not be under review at or under invited revision from any journal, including the RFS until the author has been notified of the outcome of the dual submission process. The details of the dual submission program may be found at:
http://sfs.org/dualsubmissionpolicy.

We welcome papers in the following areas, but other related areas may also be considered:

• Asset allocation and debt behaviour over the life cycle
• Financing retirement and the demographic transition
• Consumer indebtedness, financial distress, and default decisions
• Behavioural approaches to household finance
• Financial literacy and financial education programs
