10.23.20

IC Imagine Families,

We sent a lot of information in last week’s Road to Reopen update. If you did not get to read it, please be sure that you go back and do so! (https://mailchi.mp/icimagine/road-to-reopen-update-10152020)

As we look to the next weeks and students returning, we wanted to make sure we were clear about the legalities of case communication. Per North Carolina General Statute 130A-143 we cannot share identifying information about positive COVID-19 cases, only the Health Department has the authority to do so.  We are allowed to share that there is a positive case within our school community but cannot share details about specific classrooms, names, etc.  Please do not ask us to violate the law, we will not do so.

Updated COVID-19 dashboard

Headphones (with mic)
Please note that students will still be utilizing technology while they are in the building.  It is imperative that all students bring a pair of headphones with them to campus.  If they have a pair that has a built-in microphone, that will be most helpful as they return to the classroom.

Blue Ridge Health days/hours
The Blue Ridge Health clinic located inside our school building will be staffed and open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.  On days they are not here, we will have the information you need to get connected with Telehealth should you need it!

Didn’t pick up car tag/student driver parking permits/yearbook?
If your student is returning to in-person instruction and you were unable to pick up your required car tag for dismissal, you can pick up your tag on Monday or Thursday when you enter the arrival loop.  Please have your tag displayed in your dashboard when you enter our campus so that we know which cars need to stop and pick up their tags.

If you didn’t pick up your yearbook, we will send it home with your student.

If your student needs to buy a parking pass, they must have all of the required items with them on Monday when they arrive on campus:

  • $30 payment via credit or debit card or exact cash.  For contactless support, we will be utilizing DipJar to accept payments, you will “dip” your credit card to make each purchase.  Credit/ Debit Card or exact cash is the only form of payment that will be accepted.

  • Completed Student Parking Application

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Valid Proof of Insurance

  • A copy of both your Driver’s License and proof of insurance for our files (please bring these documents already copied to minimize contact)

They will be directed to the front office after they pass their required symptom and temperature screening to purchase their parking permit.

Masks
All students must have a mask at school.  Face shields may be worn with a mask, but face shields are NOT a substitute for a mask. Masks can be any color or print, but must be school-appropriate, non-offensive, not considered derogatory or otherwise disrespectful. Face coverings shall not contain any offensive words or graphics. This includes, but is not limited to, words or graphics that promote violence, drugs, alcohol, sex, or other offensive or objectionable behavior or could be disruptive to the school or school facility. Masks must also: cover the nose and mouth to maintain effectiveness; be secured to minimize the need to adjust frequently; and be made of a solid cloth material or other suitable solid material. Masks do not need to be medical grade. Commercially produced or home-made face coverings are acceptable for compliance. It may not be made of lace, mesh, or other largely porous material or be designed in a way that defeats the purpose of wearing a mask (which is to limit a person’s moist breath from reaching others and to stop the other’s moist breath from reaching the wearer, thus serving as a barrier to COVID-19 spread). Administration shall have final authority to determine the suitability of any face covering.

Please note that we will have masks available for any student that needs a replacement, shows up without one or has one that is not acceptable for school.

Please view the helpful video below about appropriate mask use.

Arrival
Please note that due to the required temperature and symptom screening that must be completed for every student every day, you will NOT be allowed to park in the parking lot and walk your student to the crosswalk for arrival.  You will not be permitted to take a left turn into the bus lot as that space will be utilized for additional health checks as necessary.  All cars MUST travel through the arrival loop in order to drop off students for screening and entry to the building.

In order to reduce the amount of traffic through one entrance to the building, all Middle School students will be walking down the east side of the building and entering the Middle School floor via the doors on the turf.  This is a change in procedure from last year, so we wanted to be sure Middle School students were aware. Please note that Middle School students who have a band instrument with them that they need to leave in the band room will enter via the Lower School Arrival Door. All other Middle School students will be directed to the entrances on the turf.

Lunches/Water Bottles
Students will need to bring their own lunch and snacks to school each day.  Currently, we are not offering lunch orders that will be delivered to the classroom, so please be aware that those are not an option.   If your student arrives at school without lunch, a grade level teacher (or your student, if they are old enough) will phone home to ask for one to be delivered to the school. Please note that no open lids will be accepted.  If a lunch is not delivered, your child will be provided with a snack for the day.

It is also important that Champions bring a full bottle of water to school each day as our water fountains will remain closed.

If you need lunch assistance, please reach out to:
