CTE Goes to Washington!

In February of 2014, Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) partnered together to launch the Senate Career and Technical Education Caucus. This bi-partisan council has since been joined by several other senators who all wish to nationally spotlight CTE as an important and valued approach to the success and skill of America's workforce. Through their leadership, they work to advocate and promote CTE, and have already taken steps in reaching out to the new White House administration with the idea that it should be further supported and encouraged on a federal level.
In honor of CTE Month® and the 100th anniversary of the Smith-Hughes Act (the first major federal investment in secondary Career and Technical Education), the Senate CTE Caucus hosted a briefing this past Tuesday on how CTE has evolved over the past 100 years. This discussion included the ways in which CTE is preparing America’s future workforce, what its future looks like, as well as multiple panelists who discussed how federal policy can further support Career and Technical Education nationwide.

Make sure your sound is turned up, and check out what the CTE Caucus is doing to further awareness and advocacy for Career and Technical Education across the nation! Because it was originally aired as a live feed on Youtube, there's a long pause at the beginning. Fast forward to 19:01 for the beginning of the briefing.
