IF CARS COULD TALK - REMEMBERING HAROLD E. LEMAY
Tuesday, April 5 | 11:30am - 12:30pm

Don’t miss your chance to hear first-hand accounts of Harold E. LeMay’s passion for cars and collecting. As the founder of LeMay – America’s Car Museum, the story of Harold’s affinity for a wide cross section of automobiles is core to the mission of ACM – to preserve and interpret the history and technology of the automobile and its influence on American culture. Harold bought cars for their historical, cultural, and aesthetic value rather than as an investment. He said, “I don’t go for just the dollar value car… I see it, I like it, I buy it.”

Lance Lambert, a local author and host of the internationally broadcast Vintage Vehicle Show, will engage Nancy LeMay, Paul E. Miller (ACM President/COO), and Karl Anderson (ACM Board of Directors) in recounting some of their favorite stories. Enjoy learning more about Harold’s favorite cars then see many of them first-hand in Lucky’s Garage, our permanent exhibit to pay tribute to Harold’s life and passion for collecting.

If Cars Could Talk and Museum admission are FREE for ACM and LeMay Family Collection members. If Cars Could Talk is free with admission for all other visitors. Pre-register here to reserve your seat for this special program. You may bring your own lunch to the program or enjoy lunch in Classics by Pacific Grill before or after the program.

FEATURED VEHICLE
1883 Columbia Expert Ordinary High-Wheel Bicycle
In the mid-to-late 1800's, bicycles and bicycling became a national phenomenon. Bicycles offered a freedom to travel for both men and women. They could go where they wanted to go, and when, without the bother of saddling a horse and/or hooking him up to a wagon. In addition, people found bicycles fun to ride.

Tips for simplifying your estate planning
Each year thousands of people designate that a portion of their assets be used for the benefit and support of America’s charitable organizations. Gifts by will enable you to make significant contributions that may not have been possible during life. In addition to the personal satisfaction you derive from a philanthropic bequest, you may save estate taxes depending on the size of your estate.
  1. If you want to simplify your estate planning, you may wish to consider a living trust in conjunction with a pourover will. Such a will simply states that the remainder of your estate after payment of certain expenses is to pour over into an already existing trust.  This arrangement would centralize the assets of your estate and provide for your beneficiaries according to the terms you specify in the living trust agreement. You could also designate the living trust as the beneficiary of life insurance policies and retirement-plan benefits.
  2. You may wish to express your bequest as a percentage of your estate rather than a specific dollar amount. This is an excellent method of protecting your intended beneficiaries in the event of a reduction in the size of your estate.
To learn more about how we can assist you with meeting your philanthropic goals and how you can help sustain the mission of ACM, please contact Matt Taylor, Director of Major and Planned Gifts at 253.683.3950 or email him at matt.taylor@americascarmuseum.org.
