Three of ACM's cool vintage cars are back on the road again heading from Boston to Detroit for “The Drive Home II: The Heritage Run” (TDH II). The winter road rally started on December 27 and ends January 7 at the opening of the North American International Auto Show.

Enthusiasts and car clubs can join TDH II’s cars and coffee events, happy hours and get-togethers in cities along the tour. Click here to view the stops. 

Here’s a breakdown of some of the numbers for TDH II:
  • 3: Cars on the drive - a 1957 Chevrolet Nomad, 1961 Chrysler 300G and 1966 Ford Mustang
  • 12: Days of TDH II
  • 12: Tires - 4 all-weather Michelin tires for each car
  • 20: Planned refueling stops at Shell stations along the route
  • 24: Quarts of oil being brought on the trip
  • 24: Bottles of antifreeze being brought on the trip
  • 144: Amount of free Shell gas cards to be distributed to consumers during the trip at “Surprise & Delight” stops
  • 360: Longest driving stretch in miles (Pittsburgh to Indianapolis)
  • 600: Approximate gallons of gas for TDH II
  • 2,150: Miles to be driven on TDH II

FULL STEAM AHEAD: A K-12 EDUCATOR WORKSHOP
February 25 | 9 am - 3:30 pm

Tacoma’s Museum District brings you creative new ways to incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics into your classroom. Educators from America’s Car Museum, Children’s Museum of TacomaFoss Waterway SeaportMuseum of GlassTacoma Art Museum and the Washington State History Museum will provide engaging, hands-on workshops for both primary and secondary teachers.

Put your racing skills to the test every second Thursday of the month in the Speed Zone at ACM!

Our CXC racing simulators are linked together to provide a realistic racing experience against other drivers. Compete on famous tracks such as: Darlington, Daytona, Dover and more!



January 21 - FAMILY STEAM DAY: PINEWOOD POWER
Design, assemble, and test out your own pinewood derby car on the Museum’s full-length track. Learn from guest presenters about how to increase potential energy by reducing friction and increasing weight. Get inspired by viewing award-winning vehicles and creative designs.

Free, with Museum admission. 


February 01 - 28 - SEATTLE MUSEUM MONTH
