Singapore & Malaysia Visit
January 04 - 09, 2016

Singapore: Tuesday, January 05, 2016 - Evening

The venue for the evening session was ‘Sai Anandam’ in Singapore, adjacent to the Pillay residence, and one of the 17 ashrams around the world.

It was 4:45pm in the evening, and one could hear divine music wading out of the ashram, into the street, welcoming every devotee, who was eagerly rushing inside to experience divinity!

The resplendent hall was beautifully decorated, and the atmosphere was electric. The hall was filling up quickly, and it was evident that everyone had turned up in their best finery, to celebrate the arrival of their Lord dearest, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba! The meticulous detailing and high standard of organising, a familiar feature associated with this dynamic group of devotees, was evident in every aspect. This is also reflective of the tremendous love each one of them espouse in their hearts for their Sai ma!

Blissful Satsang at 'Sai Anandam', Singapore
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Wednesday, January 06, 2016

Swami’s entourage touched down at Kuala Lumpur around 9:30am to a warm welcome by the Malaysian devotees. They proceeded to the residence of Sri Ayavoo Arumugam and his devout wife Dr Vimala. Both have been ardent devotees of Swami since many decades, and well-known for their seva activities. The residence was yet again transformed into an abode fit for God!

The lunch was a typical Malaysian fare, served with the same love that reflected in every aspect of the Ayavoo residence. Sri Ayavoo, since a very young age, had taken upon the seva of teaching children from impoverished backgrounds. Swami’s love and grace has been in abundance with this blessed family!

After lunch, the group rested for a while before heading to the evening satsang organised at ‘Sai Ananda’. Over 400-450 devotees were eagerly waiting for Swami’s arrival in the beautifully decorated prayer hall. The main hall was already overflowing, and many devotees had to be accommodated in the ground floor lobby, where a giant projector screen had been thoughtfully setup.

Kuching, Malaysia

Day four and five of Swami’s visit to Singapore and Malaysia were set in Kuching, the capital of the state of Sarawak in Malaysia. Situated on the Sarawak River, on the island of Borneo, Kuching is deeply entrenched with history.

Day 4 : Thursday, January 07, 2016

As the entourage touched down at Kuching on the morning of Thursday, January 07, they were welcomed to a pleasant surprise at the airport. A special booth in the Airport lobby displayed beautiful bi-lingual posters of Swami and Sai quotations in Chinese and English! It was a great welcome to a new city!

The entourage was driven through the scenic and serene landscape from the airport to ‘Sai Love’, Swami’s residence in Kuching, A harmonious blend of nature and civilisation without the urban squalor, it was like what one would expect with a population like that of Sarawak!

‘Sai Love’, Swami’s residence in Kuching, is a testimony of the love the people of this city have for their sweet Lord. When Swami announced His visit to Malaysia, Sri Anthony Bong, an ardent devotee in Kuching wanted Swami to have His own mandir, where He could stay while in the city. What started as a humble desire in his heart materialized into ‘Sai Love’, a beautiful bungalow that....

In Loving Memory of Smt Sarla Indulal Shah

The famous poet Khalil Gibran said, “I slept and I dreamed that life is all joy. I woke, and I saw that life is all service. I served, and I saw that service is joy!”

For Sri Indulal Shah and late Smt Sarla Shah, it has been a life spent in service. Sri Indulal Shah was the linchpin of the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation’s activities and members, nurtured many initiatives and conceived many programmes, across the globe.

Last year, this day, January 14, Smt Sarla Shah returned to her source, and became one with her beloved Bhagawan. She was an epitome of grace and virtues, and lived by the ideals set by Bhagawan. Her untiring efforts, unstinting dedication and inspiring personality touched many souls during her journey at the Divine Lotus Feet. Her monumental contribution to the various facets of Bal Vikas and Mahila Vibhag (ladies wing of the Organisation) will go down in history, and her immense sense of selfless service will be remembered by every household!
