"There is no need to glorify what I have done. I have given back to the people what has been given by them. I have given to you what is essential for you. Nothing is Mine. If anything can be called Mine, it is you. You are My greatest property. If you are happy, I am happy. If you pursue the right path, that is My food. When you are united, I feel happy. Therefore, do not speak about what Swami has done. Swami served to you what you have offered to Him. I have nothing in My hands. People call them empty hands. But this nothing is everything."
-Baba
With the Blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, we are delighted to present our Fiftieth issue of Ananda Vahini. The weekly newsletter includes interesting musings and short excerpts from the week's events.

We bring you the details of World Youth Meet - 2016, 91st birthday celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, a short report on Global Akhanda Bhajans - 2016 and the inauguration of Sai Anandashraya at Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli.

In this week's INNER-VIEW, Brother Madhusudan Naidu shares another interesting moment, a conversation between Bhagawan and His devotee to whom the Lord explained about the role of a Leader, and how the Leader should be able to tackle different situations with work and his people.

As the trustee and an alumnus of our educational institutions, walked in to the interview room, Swami asked him, "How is the work going?"

"It's all Your work and You are doing everything", he submitted in all sincerity.

Swami seized the moment to teach a lesson, " No, when it comes to work you must think that it is yours and you must do it, but when it comes to ownership, think it is Swami's and you are only serving Him. The problem begins when we do the opposite and start thinking that we own the work and Swami should do the work.  Hanuman was a great devotee because when it came to work he took the entire responsibility, but was always clear that everything was for Rama as everything belonged to Rama alone, and He was only a servant. Develop detachment not disinterest. Take great interest in doing God's work, but remain detached thinking God is the owner ultimately. This is the way you should work.

A devotee sought guidance from Swami regarding the running of Institutions, to which Swami gave the most profound answer.

Swami: For any Institution, leadership is important. As is the leader, so are the people. That's why being a leader has more responsibilities than rights.

Would God like this? Would it be good for all? These should be the important questions. But when ego takes over, these questions vanish. Then it's all about whether I like it, and is it good for me! The reverse happens.

Such selfish leadership is always the reason for the downfall of all Institutions.

One who is able to put the interests of others before oneself alone can become a good leader.

"Yasamanno Dwijate Loko, Lokaano Dwijate Cha Yah", neither you should trouble anyone nor be troubled by others, such leadership is important.

Devotee: But how can we do that when others may want to harm.

Swami: When you mean no harm, you will have no one harming you. Despite that if some people out of sheer jealousy try to harm you, even then you should follow your Dharma of not harming others. Ultimately, it's Love alone that wins. It may take more time like homeopathy treatment. However, it will remove the issue from the roots and not merely treat the outer symptoms. But people lose patience and try to get quick solutions to problems. That is where things go wrong. Love will teach you patience.

Patience with your self is confidence.
Patience with others is love.
Patience with God is faith.

If you don't have patience you will become patients!

Devotee: What can be done when the others are unwilling to receive the love?

Swami: Does the river bother who drinks from it? Does the rain bother where it falls? Does the sun bother where it shines? Like wise, do your duty of loving others without any expectations. Not even the expectation of them receiving your love. Even a hard rocks melts with incessant rains. Do your duty of loving selflessly. That is divine. Love without duty is Divine.

GLOBAL AKHANDA BHAJANS - NOVEMBER 12 & 13, 2016

The Global Akhanda Bhajan is one of the most powerful spiritually unifying the  forces at work to bring all humanity together through loving faith in God, regardless of name or form.

In year 1944, Our Beloved Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba started Akhanda Bhajans at the very young of sixteen years, first time ever in the City of Bangalore, Southern India.

It was once Bhagawan said, “Akhanda means uninterrupted, without any gap.  ‘Akhanda-Bhajan’ means that it should not be just a twenty-four hour, or even a seven-day affair. It must go on from birth to death. Bhajan has to start in childhood and continue onward. It must be constant companion of man, his solace and strength. Do not postpone it until old age, for it is the essential food for the mind. This is being done not for the sake of one individual, one nation, or one community. It is for the welfare of humanity as a whole "

The Global Akhand Bhajan was started with the lighting of the 'Akhanda Jyoti' by Bhagawan which is kept continuously burning for 24 hours. The Akhanda Jyothi will not only helps to concentrate the minds of devotees but promotes a sense of spiritual unity and harmony among the devotees.

Commenced at 6.00 PM on 12th November, Saturday, the Bhajans continued nonstop for twenty-four hours sung by students, devotees who has come from all across the world, leading by turns.

Global Akhanda Bhajan 2016 then came to a close at 6.00 PM on 13th November, Sunday after the Divine discourse and with Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan. At the end, Prasadam blessed by Bhagawan was distributed to the students and devotees who has spread across the Sri Sathya Sai Premamrutham Auditorium.

What is a true shelter? – Summary Divine Discourse on 16 November 2016

Among all types of species in the world, human birth is most precious. Adi Sankara, based on the precious nature of human life, had said that there are three most coveted which will lead us to obtaining God’s grace – One, human birth, two, desire to know the Truth or God and three, the company of the great realised ones, the Divine personalities.

A lot of devotees have come to this place from many, many countries, Not only that they have reached this Ashrama, they have also reached the Ashraya, which means the Divine shelter. What is the greatest shelter? The company of the godly persons. Just because you build four walls and put a roof on your head, it does not become a shelter. The true shelter is gaining the company of the Divine personalities, which will definitely lead us to attaining Divine grace. When you are under the shelter of Divine grace, no problems or adversities can halt you.

Therefore, if you have the shelter of Divine grace, in spite of all the problems you face, you can have a smooth journey. These three things you can attain only by Divine grace only; not by your self-efforts. The greatest opportunity is that among 84 lakh species of life present on earth, you have taken birth as a human being. Not only that, you also have an aspiration....

What is Akhanda Bhajan? – Summary Divine Discourse on 13th November 2016

Since the whole of creation has emerged from God, the driving force for everything that happens is God’s love. Even man is born out of God’s love. Therefore, he has to conduct himself with this Divine love. Many people misunderstand this concept of love. Young men and young women, even elders, don’t distinguish between true love and attachment. They think love is attachment and attachment is love. Love has no attachments. Love is matchless. Only when we recognise this fundamental basis of love, we can develop devotion to God. There is no duality of giving and taking for love. Love always gives; it does not know how to take.

Four categories of devotees come to God. The first is Arthi, who comes for relief from suffering, the second is Artharthi, who asks for more wealth or position or name or fame, the third is Jignasu, a spiritual aspirant and finally, a Jnani, a man of wisdom. All the four categories of devotees come to God with some desires. Only the last category of men and women approach God only for God’s sake. They want only God and nothing else. The only thing they want to achieve is ‘I want God’. Hence, only the last category of devotees can be called true devotees. When such devotees lead their lives with their hearts filled with love for God, God will be with them all the time. He will be in front of them, behind, on their sides, inside and outside.

Where My devotees keep singing My glory and My name, undoubtedly, I will install Myself there. Bhajans without love for God can only be called music. It cannot be called Bhajans. Having ‘feeling’ while singing Bhajans....
