“Give love and get love. What you sow is what you reap, and therefore no point in blaming anyone for what you go through. Every action has a reaction, sometime a delayed reaction. A seed sown may become a tree after some time, but every tree is a proof of a seed sown some time ago.”
- Baba

The Divine Visit to Alike and Jayapura
November 28 to December 02, 2015

Alike - November 28 - 30, 2015

Swami’s visit to His much loved campus at Alike was one of the most eventful ones of the Lord! Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Institutions at Alike are the oldest in His mission. Inspired by the love for God and nation, Late Sri Madiyala Narayana Bhat, who hailed from the family of landlords in Alike, offered his everything at the altar of Loka Seva or the service to the world. Way back in the sixties, he formed a small group of young, dynamic and self effacing Tyagajeevis, who worked day and night to bring up the institutions, against much opposition and many hurdles. Their faith in goodness was such that, eventually God Himself revealed to them in the form of our beloved Lord Sai!

Saturday, November 28, 2015 - All day long, the campus had been abuzz with activity to welcome the Lord. The excitement was palpable, as students and staff went about ensuring, everything was organised according to Swami’s satisfaction. Swami commented, “It is the selfless love of one man, Madiyala Narayana Bhat that has resulted in so much good, to so many. Even one selfless man is far more powerful than scores of selfish people.”

The evening program started with a talk by Sri U Gangadhar Bhat (Chairman, Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Trust, Alike) who welcomed Swami and all the accompanying guests. He expressed the collective joy of everyone in Alike to have Swami among their midst.

Swami in His Divine Discourse mentioned that the whole world is reflection, reaction and resound. “Give love and get love. What you sow is what you reap, and therefore no point in blaming anyone for what you go through! Every action has a reaction, sometime a delayed reaction. A seed sown may become a tree after some time, but every tree is a proof of a seed sown some time ago.”

'Sai Symphony’ team (the Alike band) presented three numbers at the Lotus Feet of Bhagawan. The special melody they had composed on the occasion of Bhagawan's 90th birthday, with its peppy tune,  was the highlight of their presentation.
Students of Vidya Kendra and High School, staged a play, based on the life of Shirdi Sai Baba.
Day Two - Alike: Sunday, November 29, 2015 - Morning

General Hospital Expansion Project - Swami visited the General Hospital in the morning to bless the expansion project, which is all set to cater to a larger number of patients. It was an endearing sight to see the Lord Himself giving the accompanying guests a tour of the building! Last year when Swami visited Alike in August, on His own accord Swami had asked to add male and female wards (with 10 and 5 beds respectively), and also mentioned to have a minor operation theatre. This was the wish of Dr Ramesh Rao, a dentist, who is taking care of the hospital, since he joined Alike three years ago. He had discussed this with the trustees too, and plans were also drawn, but they could not proceed with the hospital extension for some reason or the other. But Swami commanded them, and thus this long cherished wish was fulfilled, revealed Dr Ramesh in his speech.

Visit to the residence of Brother Madhusudan Nayak - Swami and the guests visited Puttur, a town 20 kms from Alike, to the residence of Brother Madhusudhan Nayak, an alumnus of Alike, Brindavan and Prasanthi Nilayam campuses of the Sri Sathya Sai Institutions. Thirty years ago Swami had promised his father, Sri Madhava Nayak, that he would visit his house! And here He was, keeping His word to the family!

Bhagawan graced everyone gathered with His talk, and reminded everyone that faith and fear cannot be together. 'When God can take care of all the creation, is He not capable of taking care of my family and me,' should be the thought. Bhagawan added that only people who have selfless love and selfless service can come to Him now. He underlined this point with the analogy of this phase being the high school, while the period wherein he was in His physical body, was primary school. Speaking of His form and formless phase, He said a faithful dog would recognize its master in any form. Similarly, a devotee will recognize his Lord in any form!

Alumni Meet - In the evening, the alumni of the Sri Sathya Sai educational institutions had organized an alumni meet, coinciding with Swami’s visit. Swami arrived with the guests – Mr & Mrs Ravi Pillay, Mr & Mrs Ram Setty and Mr Meng. Swami’s discourse to the alumni that evening was infused with the ideals of sacrifice and selfless service. He said the alumni must emulate from the esteemed guests who adorned the stage that day, as they were examples of great sacrifice and service. He then called an alumnus of Alike and Prasanthi Nilayam who had placed all his property at Bhagawan's Lotus Feet. Swami continued by saying that His alumni from all campuses had set a goal to mobilise Rupees Two crores, and offer it for the maintenance of the various educational institutions, but there was a serious shortfall in the amount. Swami revealed with much love that He told the alumni leaders that afternoon that the set target would be reached that evening by His divine will! He said the money offered by this alumnus would go into making up for the shortfall. And thus Swami in His own indomitable way kept His word, and also demonstrated that He was always with them, helping them, guiding and guarding them at every step of the way!

The students of Alike offered a beautiful and well-rehearsed performance of Yakshagana (a traditional folk art form of South Kanara district). The story presented was of Sri Hanuman going in search of Mother Sita on Lord Rama's command. The actor who played the part of Hanuman won everyone's heart, and Lord Sai Rama blessed the student who adorned the role.
Day Three - Alike: Monday, November 30, 2015

Inauguration of Madiyala Home - November 30 marked the 89th Birthday Celebrations of Sri Madiyala Narayana Bhat, reverentially called as Anna (a loving brother to all). As a tribute to the selfless life of this great beacon of inspiration, Bhagawan got the 200-year-old Madiyala House renovated as a museum and unveiled the plaque.

Thereafter, He took all the guests with Him to inaugurate the house by ceremoniously cutting a ribbon. Sister Devaki Bhat, the younger sister of Anna was waiting to receive Swami, and her joy knew no bounds as the Lord was now revisiting this home. He blessed her and went into each room. With the innocent curiosity of a child, He was the tour guide, as He explained the place to the accompanying guests! Swami finally went upstairs to His room, which was furnished and kept unused since 1979. The time had finally come now, to welcome the Lord to His room for the first time!

Bhoomi Puja (PU College for Girls) - Swami proceeded to the site of the new residential PU college for girls in Alike, Prashanthi Nikethanam, for Bhoomi Puja, at the Sathya Sai Sharda Vihar campus for women. As His car drove through the muddy road, He noticed the girls wearing sarees, standing reverentially with folded hands, on either side. Swami was very happy to see that our tradition and culture was being imparted to the girl students! The campus construction will commence soon, and will be ready within a year. A makeshift arrangement will serve the students, when the college will begin the term in June. Swami recalled that it was the dream of late Sri Madiyala Narayan Bhat to have a girls college.

Bhoomi Puja (Auditorium) - The next event was the Bhoomi Puja for the 2,500 seater auditorium complex in Sathya Sai Vihar, which is the need-of-the-hour, to enable all students to come together and pray in unison. This will surely improve the sense of unity as a single family, Swami said. After all, a family that prays together, stays together!

A bust of Anna, sheltered under a beautifully carved dome like altar, was waiting to be unveiled in the center of the  garden. Bhagawan graciously unveiled the statue, and also cut a cake commemorating the glorious day.
Day One - Jayapura - Tuesday, December 01, 2015

After a three-hour-drive, the entourage arrived at the Jayapura campus, which houses two separate campuses, namely Sri Sathya Sai Sri Nikethanam for girls and Sri Sathya Sai Divya Nikethanam for boys.

Swami was beaming with joy, as He experienced the pure love and devotion of the thirsting teachers and students of the Sri Sathya Sai Sri Nikethanam campus. Sister Lakshmi, Principal of the campus welcomed the gathering, and mentioned about the guidance some of the staff had received from Swami during His previous visit in November 2014. The revelations made by Swami, known only to them, confirmed their faith in His omniscience, and they considered themselves truly blessed. As per Swami's command last year, the girls had learnt some Veda chants and suktams, which they chanted next, to the satisfaction of Swami.

A few offerings of greeting cards, drawings and poems were made to Swami, which He graciously accepted encouraging the budding talents. Swami even asked a teacher to recite one of her compositions on the love of mother. Even without her mentioning it to Swami, He asked her about it, yet again giving them a glimpse of His omniscience and omnipresence! The teacher was moved to tears at this kind gesture of Love.

Sri B N Narasimha Murthy urged the girl students to use this precious opportunity of studying in Swami's schools well, by gaining spiritual knowledge along with the secular, and become beacons of inspiration for all in the society. He informed them about the initiative of Swami to start a degree college in Chikkaballapur, Sri Sathya Sai Centre for Human Excellence for women within two years, in which like the men, even girl students  would get an opportunity to get degrees in science and arts and become future teachers, administrators and educationists in Swami's institutions!

Joyful smiles on the faces of the little dancers, while they performed merrily, did not go unnoticed by Swami also!
Day Two - Jayapura - Wednesday, December 02, 2015

As Bhagawan emerged out of His room after the interview, veda chanting by the boys commenced, who were all waiting to lead Him in a procession to the venue of the morning function. All the students had gathered and waited with bated breath, to receive their beloved Lord in their campus. Sri M Sathyanarayana, Chairman of the campus, welcomed Swami and the accompanying guests, amidst much cheer. After a couple of devotional songs and dance, Sri B N Narasimha Murthy addressed the gathering of guests, students, staff and devotees. He stressed on the fact that the fundamental basis of education is devotion to God.

This was followed by the much awaited discourse of Bhagawan, who started by saying, “Secular education may make you a scholar, but it is not going to grant you complete wisdom or total knowledge. What is the use of acquiring all kinds of education, which will ultimately lead you to death. You must gain ‘that’ education, which will help you conquer death itself!

We have to acquire education to build character. You are not one, but three. What others think you are; what you think you are; and what you really are! Once you learn this, you need not learn anything else. Ultimately, you have to acquire knowledge which will help you conquer death, and lead you to immortality."
