MDE December Newsletter

MDE Year-in-Review

As 2016 wraps up, we've taken time to look back at this year. We've added new staff and have seen God quadruple our membership! In addition to our 24 members, almost a dozen believers here in the USA have partnered with our members as mentors and business advisors, and many more have helped us or our BAM members address a wide variety of issues. To all of you who have helped, Thank you!

In June, we recognized that MDE is now in "Phase 2" of our launch: growing our membership, raising awareness, and expanding our service network. Our plans for growing MDE were a bit different than God's. While we thought MDE would have more tentmakers at this point, he surprised us with double the number of BAM ventures we expected! Several of our new members found us by searching the web; another had a friend who learned about MDE and then told her to join us. As with our first tentmaker, we continue to hear of believers who are looking for an organization like MDE:
We've talked to many agencies and organizations, trying to find someone that fits our unique circumstances and could help us in our most pressing matters—MDE's work and goals really seem tailor-made for us!

One of our goals for raising awareness is to better utilize social media. We decided to start with Facebook, a blog, and to continue with this regular newsletter. Through the Facebook page, we share information, quote-worthy member notes and pictures, and will soon post job and internship opportunities. (Know anyone looking for a job overseas, or graduating seniors? Invite them to the Facebook page!

This newsletter serves as a way to keep you informed on what's happening at MDE: reports, updates, and stats.
Just this month MDE started sharing stories on our blog. Here we focus on our current members and the work God is doing in and through them.
(What is Christmas looking like for our members? Catch up here.)
New partnerships in 2016 have grown MDE's network. We're excited to see how one Community Development project might go beyond its start in Asia and connect with one in another region. With SEND International, we've seen doors open for tentmakers to connect with the diaspora ministry in New York City

From a dairy goat farm to stove manufacturing, from an accountant to English teachers, from an MA course in Servant Leadership to mentoring orphans—we've seen God open doors for authentic access in unreached communities around the world. All glory be to God!

Thank you for your prayers and partnership. May God bless you and your family this holiday season!

This month we will be sharing stories about MDE members as they prepare for Christmas.

Asia Report

In October, Craig joined an MDE member and his team to teach a one credit Master’s level course on Servant Leadership to Honors Master Students in a top university in Asia.
Craig reports, "We had many opportunities to share our values and the reason we were there with the current students. We also met with former students with whom the coordinator had maintained relationships. We had more freedom to share our faith with these students.

I had the opportunity to share with one particular student who connected with me. After the course was over, I gave him some spiritual resources and we have continued to chat on-line. He knows a couple of Christians, but he says he in an atheist. Please pray for open conversations, protection for him, wisdom for me and an open heart for him to discover God’s love and forgiveness."
If you connect with MDE by any of these means—Facebook, blog or the newsletter—would you help us know how we can improve? This short survey will take only a few minutes of your time and would be very helpful to us!
