"Someone asked me, "Aren't you worried about the state of the world?" I allowed myself to breathe and then said, "What is most important is not to allow your anxiety about what happens in the world fill your heart. If your heart is filled with anxiety, you will get sick, and you will not be able to help"." - Thich Nhat Hanh
Summer is almost over and we are gradually entering the fall of 2019. A lot has happened this summer - within me, around me, in the world. Amidst the turmoil, I was careful to not lose my presence of mind and took the time to stand still for a moment as well. I enjoyed the little things, and summer...
Standing still also allowed me to realize to an even greater extent that spiritual growth largely takes place off the mat, instead of on it. I was no stranger to this fact, but it was beautiful - not always easy though - to see and feel it up close. But I also felt inner struggles, sadness, and powerlessness.
Mankind asks a lot of earth. Climate is changing, big parts of the world are burning. Nature is touched by people in a way it cannot recover from, species are disappearing. There's oppression, raging wars, poverty and plastic everywhere. Ignorance, stupidity and lust for power abound - while at the same time, awareness grows. People feel more and more stress and anxiety as well. We are moving too fast and the world suffers. It's so unnecessary... Let's remember that and live consciously.
Listening to the earth, responding with direct activism, living in cooperation and bringing out the voices that name that which is sacred as something to uphold and defend. Is everything we do, the things we consume, necessary? What are the consequences? Can't we reduce our ecological footprint to the benefit of our environment and our future generation? What is that that we can be and bring towards each other through our actions and our hearts?
Despite this situation I still try to count my blessings. I'm grateful for the wonderful things that cross my path and the work I do, though which I touch so many hearts - that in turn touch mine. I'm part of so many special events where synergy between participants, but also between the teacher or guide and the group is an important element. I fully realize how amazing such synergetic experiences can be. I sing my gratitude and ask that it becomes a transforming energy.
I hope to create more of those synergies and awareness, not just for inner processes, but for how we treat each other and the world. That is the basis for many of my gatherings, like the benefit concert on October 17th and yoga and sound weaving gathering on September 1st. I hope to meet you there, so we can achieve something together... Not just for ourselves, but for our beautiful mother earth. We have to take care of her - our home - like we have to take care of ourselves - our temple!
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt and listened to with the heart...
